Absolutely. The alive springs have mainly good reviews although I'm sure I have read that someone removed them because they were too soft for towing and load carrying.
If this is of no importance to you then they are probably a good choice, however, the springs I have a still very comfortable and don't compromise on carrying capacity.
I think the alive springs are only -1 inch, probably because if they were -2 they would hit the bump stops a lot because they are so soft?
Trying to be as unbiased as I can without having tried the alive setup, hope it helps Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Forgot to mention that I have also tried a cheap set of -2 inch standard rate springs with standard dampers. Looks great, handles ok but the ride was poor. Like standard only even more choppy Thumbs Up 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

You had a TD5 at 16 Shocked ya Censored ! id have killed to have had a car at that age and even a 2.5! took me till I am 31 to get that far now Laughing

Got to say I love the stance of it, My dads not keen on dropping Defenders, Me I think it gives them that hard stance.
Wheels are a fantastic touch, id love to hear more about the brake upgrade you have though, as I do like a car with a good brake setup.

Thanks procta Bow down I did have it at 16, with access to private land I could drive it around and have a bit of off road fun before I got my licence. As you can see with the L plates and alloys my first upgrades started very soon after i got it Laughing
Only took me 4 weeks to pass, I booked my test on my 17th birthday and that was the earliest slot!
I don't remember ever not being able to drive and I've always wanted a defender. Being able to claim the VAT back made it much more accessible too.
As for the brakes, I'm yet to fit them. I'm hoping to get them done in the new year. I have chosen dark silver calipers as I wanted them to look oem+ and the discs are 365mm so that will restrict me to 18 inch alloys. I'm not too keen on lurid colours and mods that scream look at me, I like to know that they're there but not everyone else! Mr. Green 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

good lad, keep it sleeper or OEM extras on, but have it tooled up. the last project was like that and I tell you what I did really have some right old laughs with that Laughing That was tooled up but kept the 1.1 look, the mount of Shocked faces I had I have lost count! sharp left me a lone Laughing
I know Defenders are hard core work horse but you can make a work horse look good and they do make good sleepers too Twisted Evil

My favourite Shocked is the young lads in their 1L hatches with 4 of their mates.

(As if I hadn't noticed them looking and pointing at the wheels and the fact it sits quite low for a defender)

Get rolling in first nice and gently but a little sharp on the clutch so it lurches ever so slightly when you pull away. Followed by a nice leisurely change into second - no rush.

Then when you see the baseball caps swinging around to mug you off because they are now a car length or two in front you release full fury - a little chirp from the tyres as the turbo comes on song you come along side them observing the Shocked you can't help but Very Happy holding 2nd gear to the rev limiter (about 50mph) you have dispatched said boy racer and no doubt his mates are giving him a hard time for not beating and old landrover off the lights. Childish I know but I am still only 24 Mr. Green Whistle 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Thumbs Up The best one i had was waiting at the lights in the right hand lane as i was turning right at the next roundabout and a young baseball cap BR and his girlfriend pulls up next to me in his Skyline Shocked so i thought i will have a bit of fun here, everything on my side hooked up perfectly and left him behind, it took him by surprise and he only just got in front of me before the next roundabout, the look on his face as i looked at him was priceless Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Clayton.

My dad's 110 300 tdi isn't too bad off the mark, with the standard 1.4 gearing ratio and being a 300 I find it launches better in 2nd lol Whistle 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

couple for me, was coming back from the bank, bare this in mind the car I had at the time, was a pure sleeper. 1.1s spec with a 1.8 160 bhp under the bonnet.
This lad with his lass in a new clio decided to make an temped to sit off the arse end, But before they got a look in, I was gone, and I mean gone. Laugh was I wasn't giving the car hell either. Nice little straight road and that was that. he caught up at a junction and his face was like Shocked and said to his lass " no way that's a 1.1s!" left me well a lone Laughing

Also the final stinger I did with the car, was with a 206. I was giving it some with the little sleeper, and this 206 decided to get in on the act, and make an temped to under take me, going up hill, Procta here just dropped the car down a gear and let the thing go. He was well Embarassed been dusted by a 26 year old car Laughing
