Agree and disagree with Alan.

Don't use WD 40 use a lubricant, preferably silicon based which is what I believe Patriot recommends and what I use

A roof rack will help in the event of a roll over. Draw a line from the edge of the bonnet and top of the B pillar. Yep the drivers head will be in the firing line The windscreen holder/A pillar is not that strong and in the event of a roll over bonnet tends to hit ground first as a lot of weight is in the engine compartment. Then front of roof! A roof rack helps spread the impact and helps prevent the front of the cab from being crushed. Not that I have experienced anything like that Embarassed Whistle

As Alan said both racks are good ones, so down to personal preferences really

Good point on the WD40. That's what Karl and I used when we put mine together but we were doing it without access to much other than what I had to hand in the car.

You'd be better off with a proper lubcricant (although WD40 did seem to work).

Thumbs Up One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

I know its an old post but love the rack combo , can you tell me the name of the rear roll cage and where I might find one?
Thanks

Had a quick rummage through his posts but couldn't find anything leading to a definitive answer. Going off the connections solely, your best bets are either Safety Devices or Protection & Performance. I'd be leaning to the latter given the hoops flatter bend pattern of the upper bar though. Confused

Might be worth shooting both an email and asking if they ever produced one. Stuart

It was a one-off made by Sonic3d himself. It wasn't a roll cage (it attached to the tub only) just a structure to support the rack. He eventually sold it to someone on this forum but I can't remember who.
