Where is the Air Temperature sensor positioned that the Scanguauge gets it's information from for displaying the air temperature?
Is it he Ambient Air Temperature or the Air temperature for Air compressed by the Turbo then cooled via the Intercooler? ![]() |

Thanks log11. Just wanted to know if the Air Temperature shown was the Ambient Air Temperature or the Engine Air Temperature.
If as you say it comes from the MAF sensor then it would relate to the Ambient Air Temperature. ![]() |

From The Scan Gauge II Manual
FIA / CIA Intake-Air-Temperature Temperature of the air going into the engine. At highway speeds, this will typically be a few degrees higher than the outside air temperature. At idle or low speed, it may be much higher in temperature than the outside temperature due to the low air-flow into the engine and the high under-hood temperatures warming it up. A quick experiment today - external thermometer showed an air temp of 8 degrees C, started Puma and Scanguage showed CIA at 8 degrees. Set off and got to speeds of upto 50mph and the Scanguage showed temps of 7 or 8 degrees, so was a good indicator of Outside Ambient Air Temp. Hope this helps ! |

I too have found the air intake temp a good indication of outside air temp as long as you have been going along at a reasonable speed for a few mins. Once you stop, the air intake air heats up from the engine heat so the scanguage reading goes up, but goes down again once you start moving again

I have realised the SG readings are accurate too. We have here down to -20C now (north Poland) and SG is more accurate than external thermometer (sensor in front, close to the headlamp). When standing, both are going up.
Next year I will check what happens in 30+ temperatures and if SG will be as accurate as now, I will remove the external thermometer at all, in favour of place for other switches. Janusz www.yahodeville.com |

My Scangauge air intake temperature is spot on too as an accurate indication in comparison to local radio temperature broadcasts and my other half's Citroen indications!

My mates 110 SW has both ABS and TC light on and borrowed my scanguage and scanned for DTC but niether pending nor logged fault codes found. When it done 'force clear' it says 'no respons'.
![]() So really a scanguage can detect any TC and ABS related faults and clear them up? |

The scangauge reports on sensor inputs within the Diesel EMS module. To read/clear faults to do with ABS/TC you need a diagnostic tool that can read the Wabco ECU like a hawkeye, nanocom, MSV2 etc.

Going briefly off-topic (apologies to all) but still talking temperatures, do you have any significant problems starting at -20C, e.g. sticky gearbox, transmission brake etc. I am a "new" Puma owner in Munich and want to know what to expect in the coming months ![]() Cheers Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |
