With the ECU remaps that include the EGR Closed option - does the EGR valve still do a cleaning cycle when engine is switched off?
If it doesn't - is it possible for the EGR valve to get sooted up so that when a Normal Map is applied it will not function? LANDYWATCH Neighbourhood Watch for Land Rover Owners http://www.landywatch.co.uk/smf2/index.php |

This is indeed a concern, but to date I am not aware of anyone who has seen this problem.
As far as I know, the BAS remaps still modulate the EGR valve a little when at idle, but stay closed once on the throttle. This in itself would help to prevent it from coking up, I'm sure. You could also fit a blanking plate along with either of our remaps, which would isolate the EGR valve from the soot. We've got a different method of EGR shut, which means you can remove the whole assembly if you wish! |

With the BAS remap, there is no self-cleaning cycle. We did a 6000km trip to Namibia on the no-EGR (standard tune) map. When I got back home, I switched it to OEM map for a dealer visit, and the EGR screamed like a cat on fire. It was replaced under warranty. Did running with no EGR for so long cause the EGR failure? Most likely, but then again one can't find 50ppm diesel everywhere in Namibia, although I did use 2SO with every tank. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |
