How to deal with hunt sabs, shame it involved a Land Rover

Rolling with laughter

This shocking video shows the moment a tractor rammed a Land Rover off the road and into a ditch during a reported stand-off over fox hunting.

The 4x4 is understood to have driven on to the private lane on Saturday while trying to disrupt a nearby Hunt. But a farmer reportedly parked his tractor across the only exit, blocking the way out.

When the Land Rover tried to drive past the tractor it was driven off the narrow road and ended up with its wheels in a ditch. Its bumper was also ripped off in the process.

Arseholes tresspassing, tractor blocks them in, sabs try to overtake on blind bend, Land Rover ends up in ditch, tractor nudges them out of the way, power harrow catches front bumper.

That's sort of what he did...

I think the tractor driver showed a lot of self restraint tbh. How hunt sabs have treated my mum in her own garden whilst a hunt's been going past I'd have been sorely tempted to put the front weights through the Land Rover. The temptation to call up a mate to offer them a recovery with a nice big tractor and accidentally pull the rear axle off would also have been high.

The Farming Forum thread is well worth reading Thumbs Up

At least land rovers still have a place in what is left of British country life Neutral

After a few deep breaths I can finally focus to write. Part of the culture of this great country, well for the time being anyway, is anyones' right to protest against something of which they disagree. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of hunting the manner in which "sabs" go about this protest is infuriating. Turn up at any hunt and there'll be supporters from both sides intelligently and peacefully putting their view point across......and then the moronic cretins turn up, often wearing masks so they can't be identified. The whole protest then falls apart. Ironically this is more about a class war in my opinion with the common belief that hunting is only undertaken by "toffs". The animal welfare argument is out of the door by now with the ensuing punch up. Reading some recent court reports the majority of the sabs were from what would be called over privileged backgrounds and were from the class that they were demonstrating against. I'm all for debate and sometimes direct action but this needs to be thought through and applied with logic and reasoning. Locally to me in the early 70's a team of animal welfare warriors set free 2000 mink from a fur farm, admittedly the conditions were horrific, but the other wildlife suffered to a point of extinction for a lot of species. Rant over Sad I started with nothing and still have most of it left!

What I find surprising is that there was someone there at the start to film it. Premeditated?

Next it is fairly obvious that the road is about 10 feet wide and it is not wide enough for two vehicles. Overtaking on a narrow road on a sharp bend is not exactly the brightest idea. That manoeuvre was bound to end in tears especially since there was a ditch there.

There is no winner in this situation, everyone looses.

Farmer looks bad (whatever you say, no reason to ever damage another vehicle knowingly)
Land Rover Driver looks bad - poor driving and obvious harrassment of farmer
Guy with camera - harrasing the farmer and being self entitled and argumentative
Land rover looks bad - Seriously, rr vogue wheels on a ex army 110?

You're right there is never a reason to damage a vehicle, though I'd have struggled not to had I been in the farmer's shoes.

In my opinion debates should be had and be open, I dislike no platform policies and balaclavas.

Picking up Rickydodah, violent protest is frustratingly common. I've been on the receiving end of threats of violence from the National Union of Students and it's not pleasant. My mum has been on the receiving end of abuse and threats from hunt sabs in person. I have no particular issue with people disagreeing with me, after all you can't learn anything if you never question your held beliefs. Ways and means.

Hmm, Didn't look like a high speed 'overtake' to me. I have no axe to grind on either side of the argument, but they were both being bellends in my opinion. Tractor drive for, effectively, pushing the land rover off the road. Land rover driver (and cameraman) for quite clearly just trying to antagonise the tractor driver into doing them some damage.

If it's true that he was blocking their exit from the land, yes they were trespassing, but what did he expect them to do? Just wait for him to move? I suspect the point of friendly conversation was long gone.

Is there not a correlation between adults getting their jollies killing animals and psychopaths/kiddie fiddlers.

Having read the background, the first incident looked more like a 50:50 to me - 2 into 1 just doesn't go and when one of them it 3 times the size of the other...

However, the tractor driver then appears to steer into and ram the land rover - that's not acceptable behaviour and I hope action will be taken against him once the video has been viewed by the appropriate authorities.

Couple of points...

Why is everything being filmed front and back? someone stood there also filming, did they know this was about to happen.

Its probably lucky the LR did NOT make that overtake move as had it got in front it could have got a lot worse I guess. Hot heads driving large and dangerous machines..not good.

The LR does look messed about with and not in a good way Very Happy
