Well clearly they are the last line of defence so you don't reverse into say a wall and smash all you lights.
They can also be used as a step Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

That is a poor excuse for bad driving... i have had LR's for 35 years and never bashed a rear crossmember yet. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

I have them for one reason only, to protect the rear quarters when driving offroad. That said, they are damn useful steps, and they also protect your fuel tank from any moron who might run into the back of you. You talk about bad driving etc, why do you have one of those soft A bars? |

Can't say I've ever seen a roe deer running around with an a-bar on the front. Maybe the deer's a better driver that you red-dot!!! Russell 2011MY 110 XS USW Black |

Has anyone found any rear bumperettes that willl fit the rear of a 2005 110xs which already has a mantec rear wheels carrier fitted or is it a case of modifying the right hand bumperette to fit around the bracket of the wheel hanger ?

I had to modify my rear bumper to fit around the mantec carrier. I think i made a spacer to move it away from the crossmember by 7 or 8mm.

Soft A-Bars are about your only option for mounting spot lights AND as a side they improve the front protection god forbid you should hit someone... Mike |

I just mounted my 'soft' A bar. I have to say it's not very soft (feels like solid plastic to me - I was sort of expecting rubber).
I guess the 'soft' bit of it is the mounts - they're only 1.2mm steel If anything hit the A bar, the mounts would collapse. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |
