Rear load mat issue
Hi all, just purchased a new load mat for my 90, problem is I have load tie points (6no) which are bolted thru the body, the picture of the mat I bought showed the same but could not make out if they had cut out round the ties or refixed them over the top of the mat , if I cut round the ties I am worried that the mat may split further than the cut but if I refix ties on top then it becomes a problem removing the mat forc leaning etc Any thoughts appreciated cheers terry b

Not quite sure if it is you issue or not but there is a SW and HT variant to load mats.

You may well have the appropriate mat but is it? If so then just a pain in the ass.

I did the same as Jay. Takes 10 minutes and helps to keep the mat in place when dogs are jumping in and out.

I've had numerous vehicles with tie points over the years and not used them once - am I missing out on something? Just put the mat on top of them. Did think about strapping the wife down in the back of the Volvo estate but that was many years ago when the testosterone was overflowing.

Brilliant.

I remember doing the same originally (not strapping the wife down but putting the load mat over the lashing points).
Although it came with self adhesive strips the lashing points meant it bulged out and the constant spinning of 5 spaniels was too much; it kept slipping off the arches.

Off it came, lashing points poked through and Bob's your Auntie's Hubby.

Go with whatever suits. Could never find ratchet straps strong enough to hold my wife; especially not during the January sales. Smile

Hope it's ok to resurrect an old thread but what mats are you guys using in Puma's. I understood the genuine LR mat that goes over the wheel arches doesn't fit post TD5 so I bought just the genuine floor mat and it's too small in all dimensions!

I've recently bought a new LR Defender rear load mat STC4629 from eBay for £129. Fits my Puma 90HT like a glove, just needed an inch or so trimmed off by the rear speakers.

I removed the tie downs and drilled bolt holes in the rubber mat and then refitted them on top, this will also help hold the mat in place.

It's a bit dark in the garage, but here is a couple of photos;

Hey Peter thanks very much for that you've made my day! I decided today to go that route and so glad I did - looking forward to it arriving Monday and getting it fitted. Looks like you also have the TGE side panels that I plan to fit Smile

looks good, now overlay it with the exmoor trim kit for better soundproofring? Cheers

Just did mine earlier in the week same as Peter D went for the genuine LR mat from the stealer, oddly it doesn't show up as for the puma on their system, he said something about the part number doesn't cross over ?

However fits really well, I put mine over the lashing points which does make it bulge ever so slightly in those places but definitely not an issue so far as i'm concerned.

Its not particularly cheap, but then it does have a great big Land Rover logo on so..........
