Being partial to a good sausage. (Oh! Matron). I just wondered what if any brands people can recommend, my favourite and in my opinion takes some beating is ‘Edwards of Conwy’ outdoor reared pork, a tastier banger I have yet to find, but open to suggestions. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

All sausages from Legges Butchers in Bromyard as the meat comes from free range pigs produced by mate of mine nearby.

Thanks’, I will try and source the sausages recommended. It looks as though the best sausages are those made by good butchers and not the nasty things that some supermarkets stock.
I must admit that I have tried speciality sausages such as Wild Boar etc. and found them lacking. Though I said Edwards sausages are delicious, I have to say that perhaps the best banger I have really tasted came from Cartmel in the Lake District, there is a shop in the village that boasts it is the home of the ‘Cumberland’ sausage, and sells a secret recipe sausage in a coiled foot round that, well, is for a sausage aficionado, once tasted over a barbecue is worth the trip to the village and more. At first the black pepper and spice blows your head off and then the taste is of salty pork with a sweetness that is never forgotten, a truly tasty sausage experience. Now, if we're chucking foreign bangers into the mix...
It would have to be the good old German staple > Bratwurst... But, only with their pommes frites and lashings of mayo... Rog... The GREEN One... MY2016 Urban Truck Build Thread - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic40548....al[/color] |

Redhill Farm sausages from near Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. Genuine free range pork, raised on the farm goes into their delicious sausages which are produced at the farm. You can buy from their farm shop or online.

Regular Cumberland man myself, but any tips for cooking the best sausage (non BBQ)?
(I have to admit I often end up either over or under doing mine, and spoiling whatever 'fancy' sausage I've just bought). And don't say 'let the missus do them', she's no better... Hob, oven, grill? I've even heard some boil first? |
