if I loosen the bolts is there plenty of movement to adjust the door and close the gap as it is quite a considerable opening, the seal is good and no nicks or cuts, the door is just touching it when closed and not compressing the joint, thanks in advance.

Safari Door???? There is a little adjustment. Take the spare off first. The bolts are not captive so you will have to remove any trim and slacken them off. It'll be a two person job. The lowest nuts are accessible through the rear arch.

I had same with mine I adjusted the catch plate and that cured it
