It beggars belief
The money that's been thrown at this car it would have been cheaper for them to give me a new one from the outset (and that's it ignoring the money I've chucked at it!) The turbo has without a doubt improved things - Saturday I was whizzing round into big numbers (3500rpm) gear after gear no trouble just like I knew it could should. Then back to square one (knocking type noise like excess injector sound and a feeling like the brakes are on / a real lack of pick up) - intermittent though....not talking a few seconds but for a whole journey or just a bit of it or none of it??????? Please help.....i want this sorted before my license expires in 2050! I know this sounds like my usual old dribble and that's all you've got to go but from my perspective i've to numerous dealers etc and they all say it's ok / as it should be and some fails....be it a gearbox, ecu, propshaft, heat shield mounting or transfer box shaft... or turbo hand brake |

gulp....tthh tthank you fff for the vv very kind offer but she likes to be handled gentley... two things. once again thanks for the lift home.....(hopefully Ian has passed on my gratitude?). I must apologise for not replying to Ian note but (and back onto topic ) I've got a simple blanking plate (no hole in it) which I want to in install as I hope this will once and for all confirm one way or the other whether my egr is leaking or not? so watch this space. |

gggrrrrrhhhh!
I can not believe it. Spent too long today trying to get egr off with 10mm spect etc....top bolt easy peesie. Lower bolt tried and tried all sorts of sockets and adapters but eventually realised I was wasting my time. The hose next to this bolt has a clip on it which due to its angle of rotation it's in the way of me ever getting a socket on. No bother I'll try an open ended spanner......eventually I realise the spanner is a duff and must have been manufactured wrong as the opposite faces of the spanner aren't parallel......so onto the 3/8"......got the second bolt off . Done it....just need to slide the egr blank in next to the egr gasket (simple)..... Bl**dy gasket is the wrong size |

Ideally this is what you need not a single blank with no hole......and with a little added ingenuity you could even add a tab on the edge like the first blank and then slip the blanks in and out in a few minutes. Click image to enlarge Caterham knowing your luck the whole thing will end in tears. :blub: Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! It's going that way......I'll be riding to work tomorrow...... Bought one blank.....lost it (or throw it away) bought another then found the original in with my after shave!!! So they are both too small (unless they fit the output side of the egr....but the moment I can't see how you access that bit??) |
