Just about every large Company in every sector of business put's out these PC mission statements about how the customer, staff and the environment are their reasons for existing and their main concerns.
What they really mean is 'we want to extract as much revenue from you as possible and we don't really care how we do it', but if we put that on our website it may not look too good. 2015 Defender 90XS HT |

Hi all
Thank you for your posts. I note the comments made regarding EKA codes and must advise that for reasons of security, we would be unable to provide the relevant codes directly to vehicle owners. Any codes provided would be provided via our approved retailers following receipt of proof of ownership provided by the rightful vehicle owner. For customers located outside of the UK, should you require the EKA code for your vehicle, if you are able to send me a PM with your vehicle and contact details, I will be happy to forward your request to the relevant Customer Relations Department for your vehicle market who will be able to assist further. Avion8, I am in receipt of your PM and will respond in due course. Regards Ryan |

Thanks for this Ryan. My dealer is adamant that 2015 Defenders do not have EKA codes, so your assistance is much appreciated.

I imagine that even on the current models if you plug in a Nanocom or similar diagnostic tool you can read the stored EKA code, in exactly the same way as you can on earlier models.

Are Land Rover going to provide me with a Nanocom or any diagnostic tool?

Unlikely, but your dealer should be able to read the EKA code by plugging his tool into the vehicle.

Hi all. I am new to the forum and not allowed to send a private message to Ryan at Landrover yet, so I'm hoping he will pick up on this post.
I just took delivery of my Jan 2016 build Defender XS and there is no security card as referred to in the handbook. Both the supplying dealer and my local dealer are telling me it doesn't have an either a radio code or an EKA code, hence no need for a security card. The consensus on this forum seems to be that there isn't a radio code anymore. I've looked in the battery compartment and nothing is there. So can we confirm that there is definitely no radio code required? As for the EKA code, the forum seems convinced that there should still be one. Ryan can you help on both points please? Thanks |

Hi Mark V
Thank you for your post. I note your query and I would be happy to look into this for you to establish if the required information is available. Generally, the information you are referring to is recorded on the build sheet of the vehicle and in my experience can be sourced from within the business. As I note that you are unable to send me a PM, may I suggest sending an email to the following address and I will be happy to look into this for you; jlrcrcsm@jaguarlandrover.com I would also be grateful if you are able to provide me with the following information; Your full name Telephone number Email address Vehicle registration Full VIN/chassis number Relevant Land Rover retailer I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Ryan |

Hello Ryan
Sorry but I still don't get it. I bought my Defender in March 2016, no EKA code was provided. Is there an EKA code for every Defender? Thanks, Christopher |

Hi Mark and Christopher
Yes, there is no radio code any more but there *is* an EKA code, but seemingly no mechanism for communicating it from LR to either dealer or customer! Your dealer, though they may not know it, can obtain it from LR. You just have to persuade them they can! Flattery may help if threats don't. Find a helpful lady in the service department. Explain that EKA codes belong to a security system so old that she wasn't born when they first came out, and which was obsolete before she left school, so it isn't surprising she hasn't heard of them! Worked for me! Good luck! That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not a dent, it's a rivet. That's not ... oh! That is a dent! 2014 90 XS SW 1997 Discovery 300TdiS (retired to stud) 1966 Series IIA 88" (now my son's) 2001 Astra - I need something to go and buy the parts when the others are off the road! |
