I do not think a disco axle is a direct fit you will need to change 3 bolt flange to 4 bolt not forgetting spacer ,and may need to make some fresh brake pipes
Why not just get a Defender axle there are loads about which are a direct fit |

TBH i have only been looking on ebay but all of the defender ones i have seen were drum axle's but there seams to be a few 200 disco axles and a lot of 300 disco / defender axles so just thought i would ask first Graham

Do you mean if i go for a 300 axle it has to be a defender axle or is the 300 defender axle the only one that will fit my 90 Graham

I'd go with 300tdi axles, either defender or discovery as they have the stronger 24 spline shafts. Obviously the flange on the rear diff will have to be changed if you buy discovery axles but that's a pretty easy job. Defender ones should fit straight on.
200tdi defender and discovery axles are only 10 spline and IIRC all defender 200tdi axles have drums. |

I just fitted disco 300tdi axles to my 90 drive flange is an easy swap and if you can swap axles I'm sure you can make up some new brake lines. I think you can pick up a cheap flaring tool for just over £10
