Interesting detail shggdg
Now, below are two pictures with detail of the HD Wolf wheels on the Heritage at the car show here. This one obviously has the latest uptodatest VIN, so must be using the 39mm long RUF500010 studs. In the pictures you can clearly see that all nuts go well over the end of the studs, with the studs ends sticking out a few mm. As a third picture I have added one of my own original LR Wolf HD wheels which are sold here as an official LR accessory winter wheel/tire package. The SVX VIN starts with 9Axxxxxx, so should be using the very same RUF500010 studs. But in my case the studs do not protrude thru the edge of the nuts, but are a few mm short of that, even if all thread is being used, so surely it is ok. Just curious where this estimated 4 mm difference comes from? Could the latest nuts used by LR be slightly different? Doesn't look like it from the pictures, but can not think of anything else. Not clear but would you not suspect the £89:90 would be for a complete set perhaps? I would at that price. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I clicked the link through to see if the photo or description changed to show a full set but it didn't; so I'm not sure one way or the other. Sadly, I don't think any of us could rule out LR charging this per stud.

Landrover's standard multiple for this part is a pack of 5, and the FRC7577 part is such a pack.
So £89.90 should get you 5 genuine studs, ie one hub. So £359.60 for the whole vehicle. Bargain! Note that the Bearmach and the <censored> parts seem to be for a single stud only, so the price comparison has an element of the old chalk and cheese thing going. |

blackwolf is spot on, just ran the numbers through the system.
Oddly the OEM ones are cheaper but i would hazard a guess they come from the same supplier anyway. |

Rather than starting a new topic again, building on this one here.
It is about time to put the winter wheels/tires on again, so that means the HD Wolfs are coming out of hiding. Question is what are the correct torque settings for the steel nuts on these genuine HD Wolf wheels? Is it as high as 170 Nm I vaguely think to remember? The original nuts on alloys like Dual Tone or Sawtooths need to be tightened to 130 Nm, so can someone confirm that the steels need 40 Nm more? According to the official Defender Manual wheel nuts should be tightened to the following settings - 6.5" Steel Wheels - 170 Nm (125 lb.ft) - which is a lot more than the standard 5.5" wheels but the same setting as the 7" alloys!
Hope you are not driving around with your wheel nuts on your alloys only 'finger tight'? |
