The sump plugs for the 2.4 Puma and the 2.2 Puma are the same size, right?

Femco do two types that will fit a 2.4 Puma -
Standard LB 6090020086 M14X1,5-T12 (I have this and it fits fine) and small. Not sure on the specifications for the small but part numbers are: DP1039 M14x1.5 Small Series DP1019D 90 degree Small series hose, 250mm |

I have a 25cm one and it is fine. Mind you I don't use ramps, just change the oil and filter with the car on the wheels

Got mine delivered today, very quick service, price was £52, but realised I should have asked for 90deg drain hose as they’ve sent a straight one. Going to see if I can exchange it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I did an oil change over the Christmas break so fitted my Femco drain plug...
I torqued it up as per the instructions but made the fatal mistake of thinking "that doesn't seem tight enough to seal the copper washer, I'll just give it one more nip" Instantly it felt as though the threads had stripped. They hadn't, it was the body of the drain plug shearing off the threaded section. Moral of the story, do not tighten beyond the torque setting > 110 XS Double Cab |

Yup, been there done that, flippin' irritating. Superb drain plugs a great modification but so fragile. Confess I have gone back to a standard plug.

Me too. When I saw the 'meat' that had sheared between the plug body and the threaded section I didn't think it looked as though it would take much to shear through fatigue. Showed around 0.2mm thick on the vernier callipers. Will fish it out of the bin and take a photo > 110 XS Double Cab

I’m surprised by this. I’ve fitted at least four of these on various vehicles and haven’t had this problem. Maybe things have changed with the quality

You might be right about the quality of materials because the one I had fitted to my 200tdi was indestructible. It even got hit by a branch whilst green lining and survived to live another day. The one fitted to Miffy sheared when screwing on the drain pipe. Heat fatigued perhaps...?!

Feels like a design error to me rather than material. The quick release body looks to be a standard design, possibly supplied with a blank end for a thread to be machined on to suit the vehicle application.
The threaded portion is too long/too close to the body leaving insufficient material between the two parts > 110 XS Double Cab |
