Clutch or Clutch pedal problems?
Hi I have a 2007 110 Puma TDCi and have had a great run with this car, very few problems with over 150,000kms on the clock.
BUT

I found myself hopping in the car last Thr and went to drive off and found it difficult to get into 1st gear. I spent the next 3 days double clutching, crunching all the gears and generally fighting with the gearbox and cursing!! I booked the car in to the service guys explaining the problem. He asked if there had been any fluid leak from the master cylinder and I said no. The joint consensus was gear box out and slave and clutch more than likely.

On the way home Sun night it got better???? Drove to the mechanics perfect no problems??? So we decided to keep an eye on it. Drove around a bit today and bingo same fault!!

How does a clutch get better??? Then fail again??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Very Happy

Cheers,

can be part of spring or something in clutch plate or pressure plate has broken and is floating around and getting wedged in pressure plate causing clutch not to release fully then moves and ok then gets caught up again . this problem will feel worst on 1st or r gears and feel better has you go up the gears

does it go in gear ok when stationary and engine off if it does its not in the box , you need to try this when you having the problem not when it seems ok

not a uncommon problem on all cars
you don't normally get any strange noises
pedal will feel ok
and fault can come and go until the bit wedges in somewhere and stays there

Hey Much90,

You were spot on!! One of the springs from the clutch had somehow worked its way out and was jamming the clutch it scored the pressure plate and wreck the slave cylinder bush/bearing. So all that replaced and a new Master cylinder and slave cylinder/throw out for good measure and he's a happy beast again!!!
