Steering Wheel Lock
Hi. Just tried to start my 2007 TDCi and I couldn't get the ignition key to unlock the steering wheel lock. Called the RAC as I was going nowhere and after gently giggling the wheel the steering lock came off and all was well. Now the steering wheel lock doesnt seem to activate at all - any suggestions or is there a gnack to this simple operation..... Thanks everyone.

Just turning the steering wheel without the key in should make it lock....and you might have to wiggle the steering wheel as you turn the key to make come off again.

They are not the simplest to activate as the steering is soooo heavy without the engine running, especially if you've got big tyres Thumbs Up

Turning the wheel, as you'd normally do, doesn't seem to work..... Any other ideas on what might be wrong?

It maybe it is coz your not used to the steering, requiring more force AND movement (there is a lot more play in a Defender) to turn the wheel,if you can turn the steering wheel from lock to lock without the key in the ignition then your steering lock is Censored . Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.

Only thing I can think of is to jack the front up and try. If still nothing it must be damaged or broken.
