Tell me - Why did you buy an 'ardcase pedal lock? I keep seeing lots of references to Safe T Pedal and Adrenalin and they all seem to have their devotees. What in your opinion is so much better about this security product?

p.s. The 'ardcase product looks great in that green colour, clean lines and graphics but it appears more expensive that the other types and I'm not sure if I see the extra value?

when i bought mine, i think Adrenaline was out of production and the choice was clutch claw or safe T. clutch claw leaves stumps if you hacksaw pedals off, so does ardcase but stumps are much shorter and less useable. SafeT seems to be based on the old adrenaline. I thought the lock on ardcase was stronger than safe T.

if i was buying now it would be ardcase or adrenaline. i think adrenaline offers more protection (area covered) BUT it is much bigger and having the ardcase kept in the front lashed to the drivers seatbox means I use it ALL the time as it is quick and handy, if a lock is not easily used AND stowed then you might not use it all the time and regret that!! if I park up for a little while I use my disklok (with added welded plates) as well. If I had the money I'd have both ardcase and adrenaline and use the adrenaline on my drive and leave it there, keeping the ardcase for travel.

the ardcase has prevented one theft, possibly 2. at a Reading car park, doors and steel cubby box were forced and front ransacked - i think looking for spare ardcase keys (you'd be stupid to leave a set in the vehicle!). it wasn't druggies looking for stuff to nick, as the Leica binos, handheld GPS, tom tom and ray bans were all left in the landy.

If you dont belong to landywatch.co.uk join - it's neighbourhood watch for landies with good security info. 110 Defender 300tdi & Penman trailer with ally exped top and roof tent

Many thanks for taking the time to post such a comprehensive and objective response. You have given me further food for thought.

This 'ardcase product does seem rather compact and as foxhound has shown it can be stowed very neatly. The more I look at Foxhound's installation they more tempted I get.

Having just received my 'ardcase, I thought I would share my view. Delivery was prompt considering it was over the Christmas period.

However the hinges are so tight that getting it open was a major job. I thought it had seized solid. Oil and exercise was tried but that didn't help too much. The paint started to wear off two places that indicated that there was binding. An hour with emery cloth took the highpoints off, but it is still stiffer than I would want.

It seems to have been made too small for a Puma pedal box. You have to wiggle it around until you can force it into place, by which time my arms ( and weak back) wondered if using this was such a good idea.

Taking it off, the first time, also took off the brake pedal rubber.

Just spoken with 'ardcase who tell me that the TDci sometimes has a cranked brake pedal. This appears to be the problem, together with a binding hinge. Neil, the owner of Landi Bits N'Bobs couldn't have been more accommodating and is sending me a different version to fit a cranked brake pedal and said it should never have a stiff hinge, he said it should be really easy to put on and off. This is great customer service and I'm looking forward to getting the new one in the next few days.

I recently picked up a ardcase and am very happy with it as I am sure many others are!

I had a minor niggle when first locking it as the key wouldn't pop out of the lock but a few test runs and that now seems fine guess it had some odd bits on the edges of the key that wore off pretty quickly. Defender 90 TD5 County -
You need only two tools in life: WD-40 and duct tape.
If it doesnt move and it should: WD-40.
If it moves and shouldnt: duct tape it.

I think that I'm just unlucky to have a faulty one. Also the Puma one is different, sometimes, which must be a nightmare for any supplier. The customer service is superb and I'm looking forward to receiving a replacement, which I'm sure will be fine. It certainly is a well built piece of kit.

I did, and I did ask for a TDCi and, it does say on the Ardcase that it is for a TCDi. But, as we know, there are differences, such as in the number of splines on the steering column. And, probably more that we don't know about.

Just received the replacement 'Ardcase and I am really pleased with it. It does everything is says it does. It slips on and off with ease and the hinges aren't stiff at all. Wonderful service from Landi Bits n Bobs, would certainly buy from them again. Very Happy

I have an ardcase for use on my Series One. I bought it after Mark Saville in LRO recommended them. However, although it was sold to fit my series one, due to 57 years of abuse, the pedal shafts are a bit out of line, so it didn't fit properly.

I contacted the manufacturers who advised marking the ardcase where it did not fit, and returning it to them for correction - at their cost too. I came back and now fits a treat, so again, full marks for customer service from me. I think I will get one for my Defender. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

Checked this, and yes, with the ardcase fitted, when standing next to the car with door open I can carefully push by hand the throttle pedal stem just above the ard'case about 1 cm down until the entire ard'case with brake pedal and all would also start to move.
I don't think it would be realistically possible to do that same thing when sitting in the driver seat though, unless you have prepared an entire construction to assist with that.
You mention "by pushing on the lock", which presume means pushing the ard'case itself. Well, if you do that the first thing that would be pushed down even before the throttle, would be the brake pedal.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
