That sounds like the Range Rover that you have to me thus lessening the appeal and durability theme the defender has. Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?" I would Reply: "Duratrac" |

It does sound rather nice, however soon as you set off you can wave good by to your props, diffs, cv's and drive shafts.

Sorry, but that isn't a Defender - the more posts you put up on the changes to your 90, the more I wonder why you bought a Defender as you seem to want the 'look' in a RR or D4. I bet you're too scared to add up what you've spent on your 90 to date Please don't take this the wrong way but you could have prob doubled your budget and bought a Puma XS for what your's will end up costing you. I think the beauty of the Defender is that it can be anything to anyone with the right mods.
I suppose to be ultimate it will be different for everyone. Black 90 + Better comfort for longer journeys (BT Radio/Seat risers) + Side runners, leaks plugged and unside sealed+ Steering guard in case i get a rush of blood to the head+ Good tyres BFGs probably. I am easily pleased. |

I used to own an Overfinch 90 with a 5.7Hsi 330 hp engine. It had an auto box and the running gear of a range rover. It also had air suspension, fully electric recaro seats with fans and heating, quick steering rack. Lots of toys.
It went like off a blanket. It was also the most unreliable vehicle I have ever owned. I know have a puma with a BAS Remap and it's the best!!! 1986 Defender 90 County V8 1997 Overfinch Defender 90 570HSI - Pass anything apart from a petrol pump! 2011 Defender 90 TDCI xs Best 4x4 by Far! |

There isnt an Ultimate Defender... Thats the point! They are brilliant as they are versilite for everyones different needs.
They wiill go down in History as they are. No Ultimate one off limited edition needed. A standard defender and some extra cash will make the perfect defender for whatever use needed. Current:D4 HSE Gone: BMW Z4MC Gone: Defender TD5 90 CSW Previous: Discovery TD5 ES (Gone) |

I'd agree with the sentiment of quite a few previous posts - for me the 'iconic' Defender is a fairly basic model - rubber mats, steel wheels and functional.
As to which model - not so easy, I'd need two; 1, 90 with full mohair tilt in Keswick Green, and 2, 110 CSW (mats instead of carpets) in white with aircon and winter pack. I have to admit that I like central locking and electric windows - but the more functional look. Although I ended up buying a XS as it was a better financial option (and I love it) John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

" 4.4 TDV8 from a 2012MY Range Rover
8 Speed Auto taken from 2012MY Range Rover Evoque steering wheel Air Suspension from the Range Rover " Yes missing the point there, buy a Range Rover My dream Defenders are a silver TDCi 110 XS Station Wagon and a Keswick Green TDi 110 with sand full tilt, oh and an orange TD5 G4 (Personally I can't stand automatics anythings..... The last one I drove was a Freelander Auto...just horrible, hated it ) |
