Yeah the first time I did a half a job.

This time I sanded, acid etch primed and then used hammerite rustproof paint. Only been 3/4mths but still looks perfect. Seems to do the job v well.

I'd say it seems to be more about the prep than the paint.

I am wanting to tidy up the rear cross member and yours looks good - is it brush-on Hammerite??

Yeah, indeed. Great car on the road but hen the price is huge for what it is really, so should be expected. Nothing like the Range Rover but more of a discovery type feel I guess.

Off road it's held back by it's tires and weight but still fairly capable, although we've only had mud to test it on.

It's made me realise just how capable a car a defender is when on decent tyres and when you start to learn how to drive it off road. Still a lot to learn but every time I go off road I get a bit better and I can now often get out of situations i wouldn't have a year or so ago. Cheers, David
