It's been very windy lately.
Have you taken wind direction into account? This is no joke, it really does make a difference. |

I wonder if air pressure makes a difference as at altitude it makes a massive difference to performance. It may be worth Making a note of the weather conditions on the days you notice a difference or having a barometer in the car?

Altitude shouldn't make a difference to a turbo.
Seriously affects normally aspirated diesels. |

I meant the air pressure at altitude
Edit: just reread your comment and didn't realise there would be a difference with being a turbo'ed engine |

Humidity will make a difference, as altitude due to the denseness of the air, but the effects I would have thought would be negligible and unnoticeable on standard engine.
I would check all the turbo pipe work. I had something similar a few years ago, which turned out to be a busted jubaliee clip on the intercooler Have you checked for a sticking wastegate, oil in the loom ?? |

no oil in the loom,
and I totally understand your point laurie and do notice wind playing a part at higher speeds, but doesnt explain it not running as smoothly. 2003 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Belize Green - "Betty" 1958 Series IIA 109 Station Wagon - "Randolph" - Awaiting Restoration 2019 Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon - SOLD 2006 Volvo V70 D5 - Ocean Race Edition, SOLD 2003 VW Passat Estate 1.9TDI - SOLD 2008 BMW 320D M Sport Estate - SOLD 2001 Defender 90 Td5 Hard Top - SOLD |

I had a similar issue and I change the radiator and hoses and now the power is back, I believe that the problem was that the radiator was clogged and the temperature rise making the engine less efficient, I measure it with my Nanocom (before it broke) and it use to go up to 105C now it hardly goes more than 85C. Air flow meter on its way out?
On days that it doesn't drive well, try unplugging it and see if the power "reappears" |

Mine is very similar never that noticeable in terms of lack of speed but some days just seems to have a few more bhp than another. I actually put it down to weather and air temps/ air pressure. Mine has 46k on the clock, new injector loom, well serviced. Never actually seen what it drives like with maf disconnected. 2001 TD5 110 County Station Wagon - sold

Mine is the same. Safari snorkel etc.. Done all the usual suspects. Can be dangerously slow at pulling out in traffic-then goes like a flying machine????
