Nah, colour coding's not for me,I just don't like the plastic headlamp surrounds. Tho the grill does want painting,or replacing with a (black) metal grill,if I can find a cheap one on bayE. Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5. |

So far this morning all I have achieved is snapping my 1/2" breaker bar trying to undo the nut on the steering drop arm! I thought getting the drop arm off was meant to be the hard bit - I can't even budge the nut, and that was after WD40 and heat.
Now I need to go and buy myself a BIG breaker bar! |

Well i removed my useless middle seat and installed a center metal cubby box, so there is now storage in arms reach and loads of it to....

Replaced the A-Frame ball joint with an OEM spec one already installed in the fulcrum from Brookwells. It did come in a blue box (gulp), but on closer inspection it is an OEM spec Lemforder ball joint pressed into a Britpart fulcrum so think it should be OK.
Took longer than I thought as one of the 2 long bolts wouldn't budge without a lot of persuasion. VERY glad I bought new nuts and bolts as well!! Only other issue was one the new bolts (Britpart) stripped the thread off the nut before getting to the recommended torque setting. I just used one of the old nuts to finish off for now. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I also bought a 30mm impact socket from Halfords to remove the castle nut because it has a narrow collar that allows you to get the socket on the nut. Also treated myself to one of these from Machine Mart which made the job a lot easier. |

To cheer me up after my not so good morning of breaking tools I decided to fit a Mantec wheel carrier. I bought it from Flatdog as a xmas present to myself and it went on perfect today. Cheered me up after failing to get the drop arm off.
I cant believe that I had to buy some sheel spacers (big washers) as an extra for £17 when I had already paid £240 for the wheel carrier. Surely they should be included as standard for this price! |

Having ordered a new 14MY Defender - I'd far rather have a 'useless middle seat' than a cubby box. One of my biggest disappointments - especially if buying a new pick up and you have a couple of pals or kids wanting a lift down the road. |

Assuming you didn't cross thread the nut or exceed the recommended torque setting - not a great advert for the fastenings supplied by Britpart. I'd be tempted to ask for a F.o.C. replacement? |

Replaced the main battery on the Landy. I replaced the old 650cca/90ah battery with a 830cca/100ah battery from Varta.
Replaced the bracket that holds the alarm siren in place. Not bad service. Ordered the bracket at 13:40 on Friday and by this morning at 10:00 it arrived in the post! 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Tried again to sort the water ingress out, but took the headlining out to make it easier this time. So fingers crossed for when I check it in the morning.

When I got married I stressed to my wife that I would never go to ikea. I guess you could call it an unofficial pre-nup.
Anyway, drove to ikea today to pick some shelves up. |

The only saving grace about having to go to the Swedish Flat Pack Emporium is the Meatballs and Chips
