interesting sort of day .. helped evacuate some of the 2600 households in Exeter today with the Devon and Cornwall 4x4 response team.
The defenders were both put to good use moving various search teams who undertook house to house visits to help move people out of the area due to an 8 foot long 2nd world war bomb that was found in the area around the university. Covid - Due to nature of the event, it was seen as more important to move individuals to a safe area, some covid restrictions were relaxed so as individuals could move in with people who are not normally part of their ‘bubble’, however masks and distancing were still recommended for all.
There will be a delay in letting all the individuals back into their properties as there will be an inspection of the properties for damage following the blast. As controlled detonations go, its was quite impressive ! See the Video on the BBC Devon page. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/england/devon Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

Appatnety there has been structural damage and window damage to a number of homes in the 100 mtr area and a crater the size of a double decker bus was left ... but that was from the ‘controlled’ explosion and not the full bomb ...
(The itianan job springs to mind !) On an aside - am I the only one who thinks it funny that the bomb went off at 18:12 hrs .... Flatdog supplied the Britpart +30mm wheel arches fromt and rear, came with plastic rivets and decent instructions. Projection of new wheel arch from bodywork 110mm
Rear was simple enough, remove old and replace with new. Front wheel arches requires cannibalism of the existing front wheel arch to create a new trim, drilling new hole in bodywork and and other minor adjustments. Sets off the chunky cooper stt pro tyres.
