2007 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
Left vs Right Suspension Height
Just rejoined the Defender fraternity after too many years away with a cracking low mileage 2007 90 XS in Stornoway in excellent condition. Very well looked after with full dealer history and the classic one very careful ownerand standard in all reapects. The only thing I can find wrong with it is that the left side, both front and rear, sits about 30mm lower than the right, both the gap between the top of the tyres and the wheel arch and when comparing the height of the top of the tyre to the chassis.

Doesn't affect the handling but any ideas on a simple fix, if there is such a thing, would be appreciated as it is one of those annoying things that once you have noticed it, you keep looking at it.

I have an 09 LHD 90 and even that sits low on the lefthand side, so it cant be for the driver to even it out. I have just given up and accept it now... Confused

Thanks very much TR51, it'll be interesting to see what they say and to see if there are any others on the forecourt.

Cheers

The springs on the passenger side is slightly shorter than the one on the driver's side.

Once the driver is in, it should be level. Thumbs Up --

" Apparently it follows Land Rovers tradition of sided springs (drivers side vs passenger side). They differ in free height by 10 mm. "

Straight from the horses mouth so to speak...
The one in the showroom was leaning a little, although I forgot my tape measure Whistle
Pope - perhaps LR followed another of their traditions by making them all different and just put them on the wrong side by mistake?!) Rolling Eyes

Thanks for the info, this is exactly why this forum is so good Bow down Bow down Bow down
It helps those of us that are less 'streetwise' to gain the 'knowledge' without the compulsory 50 question exam of course; I wonder what the questions would be if there were such a thing though?
Thumbs Up

The all list to the passenger side.

If you have changed springs before, when measured, the driver side is higher. Well some people don't like this and put 2x driver side springs on the front and back and it should sit level.

perhaps, that slight list stops water collecting in the gutters?
or maybe, they assume that there always has to be a driver in the vehicle to even it out.

hmmm..... From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.

You need a fat girlfriend...
... don't tell my wife I said that Sad

p.s. Incidentally, my LHD 110 Puma is the same height both sides (just measured). Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Hi fellas,

I bought a 2001 Td5 110 last December and I noticed I got this issue, basically left side (front and rear) is 30mm lower than right side.

Any ideas on how to fix it? (excluding getting a fat girl, hard for me at this age, LOL!)

Thanks.
