First post of the Blog states we leave on the 25th, dates changed we depart tomorrow.
Trucks loaded, serviced, checked, cleaned and checked again. Advice has been taken from Boode, Bpman, SteveS, Mudrut et all, which as been invaluable

I thought it was odd, Ian meeting people on Wednesday and leaving on 25th, makes sense now.
We've just booked our last ferry from Oslo to Frederikshavn Nige/Jo - we'll catch up when we are all back over a few beers in the forest |

Thanks Steve. The 90 is all loaded, fueled and ready to rock an... oh hang on a minute, no its not, its on the 4 poster at Devon 4x4 having a new clutch and rear propshaft!
Better now than in two days time though right? Hopefully the guys will have it ready for me for lunchtime today, but its put a little dent in my plans and budget. Well as the old Royal Navy saying goes "He who plans early plans twice!" or if your more Army based "Plans never survive the first contact!" |

Quick update...
Got to Nordkapp, saw the Northern Lights and now on our way back. Lowest temperatures encountered so far was -20 whilst setting up camp  temperatures have since been hovering around the -5 to -10 with loads of snow. Currently in Kiruna, Sweden, Ice Hotel today with a bit of dog sledging and snow mobiling tomorrow then back on the road for the long drive back.
Defender has gone well. Only faults have been a blown side light and slipping fan belt under full load first thing in the morning. Fuel consumption has been around the 28mpg reducing with frequent use of the Webasto. BFG Muds have been faultless, Speaker TS3000 have worked flawlessly along with the Lightforce 170's, Red Winch used a number of times without hiccup down to -9. Oh and the snow cowl has been a must have ! Roll on Iceland next year

Nordkapp update:
Weather fine and dry. Saw -32c on the ultra gauge today. Driving on ice is fun - love snow-winter tyres so much grip
Those lorries are mental. Went thru the arctic circle today Tucked up nice and warm in luvley hotel Might upload a photo tomorrow but I need a beer now Truck perfect! |

gopro is recording at 30 second intervals and mrsBP and i are taking about 600 pics a day on the slr ... had a great light show in Alta last night.. mild weather at the cape so probably won't see anymore until it chills
