OK, the inevitable has happened, the Puma's vacuum pump has a very minor weep on the engine side at the base.
![]() So does anyone have any idea how long I might get out of this? I've got a replacement ordered for Monday at the dealers in Sydney, but I have about 400 - 500km of driving to get there. I'm towing about 1.5t of trailer as well and there's a lot of hills to get over. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi ![]() LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

You should get quite a while. Basically it is weeping engine oil so you've got several litres to get through
![]() Mine was spraying quite a bit around the engine bay but even so, the total amount of oil was probably only 50ml. I drove a few hundred miles on it without any issues. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

I drove mine a few thousand km from when it started leaking until it was replaced with no problems other than an oily engine bay and my brakes did start feeling a little "hard" towards the end. I didn't even have to replace any oil in that time.
It doesn't leak all the time when the seal goes and I did in fact never see it leaking, only the evidence there of. |

Hi lads. Bearing in mind that I still have the original pump, and that I will inevitably need a replacement in the future, can I ask you all how many miles or Km's you had clocked up before it failed?. I don't do much mileage and although this might sound strange, I would really like it to fail whilst it's still under warranty. If I squirt oil under the bonnet, do you think I could con them into a replacement

First one failed at 12,000 miles; second one (1st type) still working OK after 25,000 miles Something should be wrong.... ![]() ![]() Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" ![]() Click image to enlarge |
