Leeky Floor
Hi All
any of you fellow puma owners had an issue with a leeky floor? and if you have, how did you stop it? have lifted the floor mats, and there is a bolt in panel, as oppose to solid floor pan (not sure if this is the norm, this being my first diffy)

suggestions welcome. Cheers

Hi Keith.. i had 8 leaks on my 90 XS and i called John Sinton at your supplier (Morrisons) and after two goes they got them all with a bit of silicon in the correct areas.... He is the bodyshop manager and he has some unique explanations as to why our Defenders fail in so many ways.. e.g, he said Defenders should never have been made with carpets as this shows up the leaks!!

Keith

Land Rover use 'Dum Dum' when they try to stop leaks according to the 'leak guide'.

I have just purchased some from Frost Restoration.

I had a similar problem last year, only with having rubber mats did not notice wet footwells underneath. Had loads of heavy condensation overnight over the winter which highlighted the severity of the problem. Dealer had to remove the dash to trace it and found water leaking in quite badly though the heater/bulkhead joint area. Footwells bone dry since it was sealed. Have had the usual problem of a few water drops sitting on the rubber mats on both sides when left stationary in wet weather. Comes in from behind the dash somewhere. Have tried by a process of elimination to locate the source. As a last resort I temporarily taped the joint between the bonnet hinge bracket and the bulkhead about a month ago and, (touch wood), the leak has not appeared again despite many heavy downpours. Will get dealer to seal this joint on next visit.

thought that, but found something inteesting on the way to wok this moning, after drying out the floor on tuesday, not that it was that wet, and driving though lots of puddles on way tot work this moning, still have a dry floor, my wife has suggested that it may be because i wash the car out with soapy water, and do not dry it! she mau have a pint, so i will monitor on the way home and see what happens. Cheers

Morning Keith,on our previous Defender it leaked like a sieve, after many many visits to the dealer, driving around with the dash out, bulkhead covered in chalk dust it turned out to be the windscreen seal, worth a look. 2.4 90 XS

Took mine in: water on the rubber mats and dripping off the heater matrix. It was the windscreen seal.

Replaced and no issues since. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

When mine went in for the old water in the passenger footwell, I was told that in my case it was a faulty joint on the washer jet cable Confused . Whatever they did it is much better but I still get a few drops after a good downpour but I can live with that for now. Cheers,

Hi Eduardo, I have a copy of the Landrover "Water ingress Manual" in PDF do you want it?
My td5 dripped on the drivers floor, was coming from the back door and "rolling" forward inside the roof and dripping down, sealed the back rivets on the back panel again where they joined the roof and it stopped

Door seal has been repaired (not changed as I can see) twice without success Sad Sad

Sasha, I have the manual, thanks, but regretably I dont have the time rigth now to do it by myself (toooo much work in the company Sad ) Also the Defender is rigth now doing her duties in the forest so I will not have access to her until next week. Anyway, will be raining tomorrow, so I request some pictures to my son to show them to the stealers.

Cheers Eduardo
