Seen similar before. IIRC that probably set you back a fair few quid. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

Personally, I thought the sound wasn't that great at all for the price. If I'm correct it was around 150 euro in Holland. Wouldn't buy it for that money but I got it for free buying a bunch of Makita tools. I sometimes use it outside the house, though...

Strange, I think the sound is really impressive. Its perfectly clear with a nice deep bass sound and the volume cranks up loud. Its the DAB version and cost £115. As well as using it in the LR I will be taking it camping with me, and using it in the garage. Runs off my Makita 18v 3amp Lion batteries, or off mains. For me it ticks all the boxes

Maybe yours is improved already. I have the non DAB version. I only find it acceptable outside.
It's great it runs of the the 18v batteries, but I only have two of those. Would be gutted if I came short on power just before the end of the day because I already used one of those in the radio. |

I guess they are just a rugged radio designed for the building site. Would be nice if when run off mains it recharged the battery, but sadly it doesn't

OK - so getting around to fitting my new ICE bits into my 2006 TD5 ... and am intrigued by the connections on the back of the Pioneer' loom ...
From my old TD5 wiring I have a single multi-plug on the TD5 harness side > an existing interface loom with what is I guess two ISO blocks (which fitted my original LR (non-aux-in) head unit - and the early Puma (aux-in) head unit) > a twin ISO block on the Pioneer loom ... Now I guess I should be happy compared to some of the install woes on this thread - but when I look at the wire>pin connections on the ISO blocks there are LR wires going to no-pins on the Pioneer and pins on the Pioneer end with no corresponding LR wire !!! So now i'm worried that something won't work - but without a colour coded reference for each section how the hell will I know ?? Thanks for any pointers ... I have taken a pic which I will try and upload when I can remember/search how again ! TIA Jon Click image to enlarge Last edited by jont on 10th Aug 2013 8:32pm. Edited 5 times in total |

So found this graphic on line ... looks like the Pioneer doesn't want A2 (phone mute) which is wired on the Defender side ... similarly A3 (not connected ?) isn't wanted on the Pioneer but *is* wired for some reason on the LR interface loom ??
But it does want something on A5 - but the LR loom isn't connected ... aargh !! Any thoughts folks ... having difficulty finding a Pioneer wiring diagram to see what it is expecting ? cheers Jon |

Providing you make sure the power and earth are all in order and fused I would just try it. You'll soon know if something doesn't work but the chances are it will perfectly..
I have no phone mute connected on mine either.. Don't need it either. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

Steve
Guess I'll try hooking it up out of the dash and see what happens ! ... the ground is black on LR side and black on Pioneer - the +12v switched is green/white on LR and red on Pioneer - the +12v battery is purple on LR and yellow on Pioneer ... Does that sound right/help ? thanks Jon |

Ta-dah !!
All seems to work - hooked up iPhone to usb to play some music and FM aerial works - need to put DAB aerial on screen and try that too ... only works with ignition on though ? So I've three spare leads on the Pioneer loom - a light green which says it has to connect to 'parking brake' ? ... a purple/white which wants to connect to 'reverse-gear signal input' and a black/yellow which wants to connect to 'mute' ... any ideas if these are needed or where they might go ? |

Also fitted the new Kenwood 3-way speakers today - sounds nice so far
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Next job to splice in the tweeters ... guess the best place is to cut into the LR>ISO loom ? then find the best place to pickup a 10A fused feed for the sub and to find out what a 'P.Cont' is on the Pioneer head unit that it wants to be connected to ? ... |

What speakers are they? Are they a direct replacement or was cutting required?
