Hi Wayne,
I can't remember saying that however if I did I was meaning compared to passive, an active sub cannot compare in power or output. For your use the Kicker hideaway (Or Kenwood although lower power but cheaper) if you put subs under seats it will work but it will be muffled to some degree and passive subs will not be pleasant for people in the seats even with an 8". Saying that it's your only area you can use but the Active Sub is quite small so have you maybe thought about the rear of the Cubby? There is plenty of places to choose from. **EDIT** Also forgot to mention Active Subs are pretty much bomb proof as everything is protected really. A passive set up you'd have to have a grille on the sub at the very least to protect it. Small pointy things near the cone would be the biggest worry. Or indeed anything that stops it's movement. Thanks Steve,
Thought about rear of the cubby box, but the whole cubby box flips back to access the safe. So would make it "interesting" when accessing it. I have looked at the Kenwood subs. they do seem less powerful but also less in money. In regards to passengers the dog mainly sits in the back so guess he would find it interesting May get one and play with it in different places. Thought about the roof, but i guess that may create problems. One quick question, have you come across anyone doing speaker surrounds for the roof corners in the back? I know i can probably make some up, but wondered if someone had preformed versions. Wayne 110XS CSW TD5. |

For the speaker surrounds try La Salle. If they don't do what you want then it'd have to be made so your talking MDF fibreglass paint and so on, no mean feat.. I might well have a go one day but would only be interested in 6x9's if anything. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

sorry to crash, but look for speaker size with the actives - think you'll find the kenwood is only 6". Have fitted 1 for a mate, loud but lacking SQ. Had the Alpine 8" along with others works well and bomb proof. Most are fitted on the back of the cubby. I am a fan of Focal, but have not herd there unit or the kicker, but both should be good.

May well have to do the whole wrap cables in electrical tape. Having said that priorities have changed, so won't be spending any money on any ICE Well for how anyway.... Thanks for the advice though |

That's a shame. But your welcome. I'm not too keen on the Kenwood's shape if I'm honest either. Half square half round is not my cup of tea. Focal or Kicker would be my choice but obviously I'm going to stick to prefered brand as anyone else generally does. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

Just noticed the new Kenwood Active sub: http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/ksc-sw11-speaker
Looks like they've gone for the rectangular design too. Looks nice. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Right, I've got my new Tweeters and WOW! nearly deafened at first but got used to it now. Extremely crisp and super powerful. Just what I had hoped. I do honestly think I need to upgrade my speakers for 13cm now though.
May as well think of something else to fit now too. Shall add some photo's later. **EDIT** Photo's now added all be it a little later than anticipated. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Didn't need to use the X' over's in the end as I haven't got an Amp for them and frankly I don't think I will need to unless I want to go deaf. I will of course be keeping them though to use if and when I Amp them. All in all extremely pleased very loud and very crisp and clean. And make a surprisingly big difference as the are so close you the ears on the top of the dash. Very happy indeed! KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Chocolate - They are Cross Overs AKA X Over's.
More details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_crossover And that's a golden oppertunity. Don't miss out on that one! Act before she changes her mind... KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Look tidy Steve and yes you need 5"
Can you not adjust your tweeters Steve through the cross overs ? With my focals you can reduce or advance the signal depending where you mount them. Found it really useful |
