Not if he grounds out a 4 gauge or bigger primary power he won't. Orange in the middle and black round the edges.

I would be really grateful for some advice about upgrading the ICE in my 2012 Defender.
I want to change my standard radio for a better one and I also fancy installing a reversing camera. I have read this thread and like the look of the Kenwood stuff. I looked at the KVT-526DVD but it appears to be discontinued on the justkenwood site. So what HU should I choose? I also assume I will require the Kenwood single din cage and the keys so I can get it out again, but is there anything else I should get too? My current system also has a Parrot CK3100 which appears to work really well and I would like to retain. Is this going to be functional with the replacement Kenwood HU and if so what is likely to be involved in swapping over? I'm also hoping to fit the reversing camera above the gutter close to the rear wash outlet. |

The 526 is still available but just seems to no longer be available from Just Kenwood. Just currently a little busy if you can wait an hour or two I'll sort out some extra info for you and probably find one for sale and I will post up the link. All your other ideas are all 100% possible with no extra issues. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

Jim,
Welcome As his signature suggest, Steve is your man for all Kenwood stuff. I have the parrot in mine and it works fine with most kit. The only issue you may have would be if you changed the way you power your speakers. IE Amp it up. If you use the pre outs you may loose the ability to hear incoming calls. They tend to be added into the loom after the H/unit into the speakers. If you just change the H/unit and wire in at the first connector you come to it should all work fine. Any questions just ask mate, there should be someone here who can answer as well as having similar issues. |

Right back now as promised.
As BarbelJim mentions the Parrot should be okay and there shouldn't be any change with aftermarket HU fitted. Although I would advise perhaps thinking about selling the Parrot and buying a dedicated Kenwood BT-300 Bluetooth unit as this will integrate far better and probably also have more features and more user friendly all in one. Changing over the HU should be plug and play i.e. removal and re-fit without any changes to the wiring configuration as the Defender Puma is ISO (International Standard) which matches all aftermarket H/U's on sale. There is also no fascia's or anything like that required. This particular HU is IMO the best start and will be capable of controling just about every feature you will want and some. I'd highly recommend it. You will need also all the items you mention. Links of items you will require I have listed below: Kenwood KVT-526 DVD Head Unit without BT Unit Kenwood KVT-526 DVD Head Unit with BT Unit (£50 saving on the BT) Radio keys for LR HU removal Kenwood Single DIN cage & Kenwood removal keys Camera ect can be added at a later date but for now if you wanted to go ahead I would sort fitting the HU first (I assume you will DIY or if you prefer I could for you however you are probably a distance away) Also sorry for the delay took quite a long time to type out and find all the details. Anything else drop me a "PM" or ask away here. Steve. 100% solved that issue even just by using the Kenwood BT system instead as it's integrated in one that way so nothing additional or "tapping in" KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

I am also looking at there active sub and 4 x 10cm speakers the 1094s for the direct replacement. question would you know if i require a harness adapter? I have a 2004 110CSW XS at the moment. Many thanks Wayne, 110XS CSW TD5. |

Hi Wayne,
Ummm it's difficult to say personally as I only have a Puma and not a TD5. The only real way I can advise you is to have a look. An ISO connector looks like this: Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge ^^^ In that picture that is an ISO connector of my HU and the ISO loom from my 90 Puma. If yours looks the same then you probably won't need one (Also has flat pins. If you have round one's you certainly will) Head unit wise that is a good one AFAIK. Speaker wise the 1094's on sale: Kenwood KFC-S1094 are great these in this link are identical power rating to mine just with the newer grille also the same model just mine are the 2010 models and these are the 2012 / 13. You won't be disappointed. Sub wise the Kenwood active sub the Kenwood KSC-SW01 I have heard good things about it and there are members on here that have had one and were pleased such as ZeDefender. BUT Also IMO worth considering would be this the Kicker Hideaway Yes, The Kicker is more expensive but it is also just over twice the power of the Kenwood and a very very nice design IMO that fits in well with the Defender. The Kicker is 150wRMS and the Kenwood 75wRMS so both are good in different ways. If it was my choice for a Sub / Amp I;d go Kicker every time. For everything else Kenwood. If you want any fitting or help I would be happy to help you out.. My td5 did need an adaptor as the factory stereo had BMW fitment plugs on the back but the harness is pretty cheap anyway

Thanks Steve,
I'll try and get the original out and have a look. do i also need a Kenwood DIN mounting sleeve for the HU? Think I'll get the speakers and HU and wait for the Sub as i am planning on doing the sound/insulation when the weather warms up!!! So taking the carpet up once would be preferred. Been looking at the Kicker for under the back seats. Seems it may be better for dust!! Wayne. 110XS CSW TD5. |

If you go into halfrauds they have a book with the part number of the harness you'll need but they usually have them in stock
