Good luck, I see the issue that you have much clearer now. What puzzles me is why it's not included? There also seems to be hardly an info in the manual either. I didn't actually know there was the dimming control in the Defender harness as I've never really looked into detail what is there as I've never used it because as I previously mentioned my HU uses a sensor instead to auto dim to light conditions all by it's self. Perhaps on top of contacting technical support with Kenwood I'd have a good look through Google search if you can as it's likely others may have had the same issue. Steve EDIT* In the mean time have a look at page 28 here: http://images.kenwood.eu/files/prod/2062/5...1U(EN).pdf There maybe a setting there that you can dim it to without having to worry about the dimming wire. âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |

Thanks Steve, I really appreciate the time an trouble that you take to help people out out. I will assume that I can fit the stuff myself so that gives c £800 on components. That HU is probably more than I need, so do you think that http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kiv-700-car-radio will give as good radio and MP3 quality?. If so that frees up enough budget to get the Kenwood active sub woofer. The £40 speaker look excellent value, I still have enough to spend a little more than that, or do you reckon that would be diminishing returns bearing in mind the Landie acoustics?. Thanks once again for all the help Brian |

jersey man (Brian) - That HU should be perfect yes but bear in mind it has no CD capability but probably like mine you won't use it anyway. You should be fine fitting it yourself no probs and you always have the manual / on-line or you could ask me if you have any issues. With the speakers I would suggest the £40 one's as there is no capability to fit larger speakers in the OE Defender speaker aperture due to clearance in the rear. However if you want to go further later on you may consider an amp for added bass & premium tweeters. 6x9's are also an option. IMHO power = quality at least with premium bands anyway.

So I eventually plumped with the Sony MEX-BT3000 CD Radio with Bluetooth (for which no ISO connector was required) and i'm really pleased with it. Good sound pick up and very clear sound out. I can recommend it for Bluetooth telephoning with an iPhone.

Glad you found some you like. The Defender 2007> uses an ISO connector as standard for the OE LR radio. And for after-market units such as Kenwood (and other brands) they also use ISO connectors so you will simply need two ISO universal round radio keys to remove your original HU. A single DIN radio cage for the Kenwood & a pair of Kenwood radio release keys. (Both very cheap, Both available on JustKenwood) it will just plug straight in and so will the Defender aerial also as it is standardised too. Double check that the cables / wires just below don't interfere with the controls i.e. the fans ect. Steve âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |

Is there a unit that has Bluetooth that deals well with multiple phones. Looking to change standard radio to one with Bluetooth to prevent young un's picking up their phone
Thanks S |

Do you mean that you want to 'pair' your own phone using the BT on your phone and head unit BUT prevent other phones pairing with the HU's BT system? If so I believe that's possible for sure. At least with the higher end HU's anyway. âï¸âï¸God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 âï¸âï¸ |
