Steve, I just mean mount the tweeters in the headlining at the rear so no issue with 'weight' and far enough away from driver not to be an issue (not bothered about rear seat passengers)
So 6x9's or component (even if tweeters are mounted in same board as 6.5") ???? |

Firstly have you checked there's enough depth behind to fit? Sounds simple I know but I'd be a to buy speakers of any type to find there isn't clearance. And I'd probably go for 6x9's due to shape and power. What brand would you be interested in? KEEP CALM AND Drill ON

@Steve - Cheers, think I will probably go for the Kenwood speakers, seems to make sense to have Kenwood HU driving Kenwood speakers.
@LikeOMG - Good to hear. I figured I would need to update the firmware looking at various other sites / forums. HU should arrive tomorrow, but will probably have to wait til the weekend to get it installed. Does anyone know how easy / otherwise it will be to remove the current JVC head unit? I read somewhere that JVC and Kenwood keys are the same, so presumably the keys that come with the new Kenwood HU can be used to get the old JVC out. Otherwise I'll have to get some JVC keys too. 2005 Td5 | 90 Station Wagon | Tonga Green |

If they don't work the keys that is then I guess you could remove the dash and then access from the rear. This way you will be able to remove it without specialist keys. Just be careful not to be to heavy handed with the radio cage clips that hold the radio in. Thrown out the Oxygen OCar due to bad quality, rotary volume knob wouldn't work anymore and iphone connector mount got failures connecting very often, so decided to replace it:
JVC KD-AVX77 Din1 Receiver with touchscreen and DVD, not the very latest model, but very good for what I had in mind: not changing to double-din, no Din1 flip-screen because of the screen hiding to many of the knobs, and wanted to have a rear cam without having to install even another screen, bluetooth, music streaming and charging the brodit Iphone-mount without needing to use a charger at the cigarettelighter-poweroutlet. Mounted the Brodit on the windowside because in this case it only buries the a pillar and not the windscreen. Micro ist fitted on the brodit and both cables are hidden under the dash going directly to the headunit. USB from iphone cradle directly plugged at backside of headunit, charges automatically when ignition is switched on. Didn't need a satnav-headunit because there was a factory fitted one on this defender-model. Rear cam is ZENEC ZE-RVC80MT with adjustable 140° horizontal viewing angle, made out of aluminium. Haven't installed the cam yet because I need some help to be able to do it: What is the best place to install without drilling new holes for the cam-bracket and use an already exsisting cable feed-through? Spacer of the rear number plate-light? And very important: how and where do i get the two black and red cables connected at the head unit to get the cam powered? Have no tools to braze and also never done it! Any other solution? Switching in the video-chinch should't be a problem, even for me! I won't use the rear signal to be able to switch it on manually Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Would really appreciate some help or advise, fotos where to connect would be great! No advise yesterday evening, so startet the cam-project as told above:
Used the downside of the spacer because the lens probably won't be harmed by snow, ice and raindrops when starting in the morning due to the 'roof' of the spacer. Took out the rear speaker to loosen the screws from the rear plate light and drilled a hole into the spacer, sealed it after installing the cam and used the orginal cable seal from the plate-light to get the cam-cable inside. Cables through roof to front and under dash to headunit. Couldn't end installation cause I didn't know how to install the powercables, will have to go to a specialist to have it done Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Last edited by Kraut on 14th Nov 2012 7:26am.
