Oil Seepage into ECU via injector Loom Query
I have a 1999 Defender 90 Td5, which upon purchasing it was suffering from the recognised problem of engine oil tracking to the ECU from the injector loom.

I have subsequently purchased and fitted a new injector loom from the local main agents, and as a result of changing the dash to the later model, I have also replaced the bulkhead loom with an XS loom from a later vehicle.

Surprise surprise, oil is still making its way to the ECU via the loom connection and the car has the associated mis fire when the revs are increased (Given that the car is garaged currently undergoing a few tweeks).

Can anyone comment on their experience of this problem and how it was finally solved.

Someone correct me if im wrong - ive not met anyone after the loom change that actually as suffered this again.

Did you replace the seals and in particular, the main one which gives the trouble at the front of the block??

The injector loom was sold as one piece.

Landy nut - What are the seals that you are referring to, have I missed the obvious?

theres a seal in the block that the wire passes through - some people leave it out on refitting the new loom. Cheers

The loom (AMR6103) comes with the two seals on it.
I expect the problem you have is residual oil in the loom causing poor connection at the ecu end.
Take off the red ecu connector & reclean out, I use an aerosol cleaner & then electrical contact cleaner.
It may take a few attempts as the residual oil in the loom keeps making it's way to the ecu.
I have had to change a few complete engine looms on discovery 2 for the same problem, (although very rare they need it).
