With my manifold screaming like a banshee, what chance does a 2.2 have? Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Might be a good idea to fit a wider jubilee on 2.4s as well

Would fitting Silicone hoses void the warranty if it solved this issue?

I think half the problem is the hose clip design. It folds under the hose to hold the clip in place, this puts the host very slightly out of round. Perhaps try cutting the folded section from the clip or get some h.d hose clips

I've always thought jubilee clips are such a poor design, they are a pain in the ass, surprised something better hasn't been devised yet!

There is a much better design clip available which I used to use on my Subaru's intercooler. Far stronger, and able to cope with big boost. Since modifieing the original clamp I've had no further problems. I have heard of a few 2.4's having hoses blow off over here.

It is in such an awkward place too! Is it possible to remove the trunking from the air filter box to get at ithe clip without upsetting any of the sensors and then getting fault codes.?
Had a jubilee clip on a 200 tdi go. It was on the engine and led to copious amounts of oil being spewed everywhere. Happened to someone on the Australian site (the 200 tdi hose clip) too. I always carry spare hoseclips with me. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

Simon, thanks for the heads up re this. I double checked mine this morning and all appears ok. but as the guys said, may blow under strain, so thats when mrs N goes to Tesco Saturday then In terms of an alternative product, i have used these on a previous car. much stronger and as long as you can get access you can tighten with much more purpose.

Hi Nidge
Wow that looks just the job, jubilee clips are so pathetic - I shall try and source one straightaway. I can see no problem getting it around the pipe whatsoever. Thanks for the info. Regards Simon 2012 Defender 110 DCPU XS 2.2 Puma Orkney Grey ''I can resist everything except temptation. '' |

Mines similar! It won't pull off or wiggle about, will keep an eye on it though as they probably slide off gradually... The hose itself doesn't seem to have the right angle on it I bet everyone else's is the same because of this? chatting to the mechanics at the dealers today this hose has blown of on most of the 2.2s they have had and they are now checking them before pick up, they also said LR have not issued a fix yet, they also said the problem does not appear to happen on 2.4s even those that are older and work hard for a living DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

if a 2.2 can produce as much power and torque as a 2.4 it must be more highly tuned/stressed .. blood, stone etc...
