A "Mikalor" Clip:

I've seen them before but didn't know what they were called.

Are they better than "Jubilee"?

There's much less adjustability on the Mikalor - I guess you need to be more careful in selecting the correct size...

Hi Martin,
Yes and yes, much better. Ive used these before with very good results on Subaru engines with big boost.

Interestingly, i called into my local dealer yesterday to enquire of the clip upgrade. Following inspection, the technician returned to inform me that my vehicle had already had a clip upgrade. It came to me March this year and so I assume that it left the factory with the revised clip. I will check what has been used, although as i said previously in this thread, I have used the Mikalor clip previously and I think that its a very good product. I would probably just change to this unit anyway.

Hose on my MY2012 popped off over the weekend. Went into Limp Home Mode but power was very low. LR Assist guy blamed the LR mechanic who installed the Raised Air Intake for replacing the pipes at an angle that placed stress on the hose.

Netherlands 2012 Defender 130 Puma 2.2 HCPU Buckingham Blue
Last Friday after I picked up my car and parked it in front of my house ( after a 15 Km drive) The alarm did go off and key fob was not working. Very annoying. Called assistance they didn't knew my car (was not yet in their system). And could not help me! I looked at the battery and both poles ware lose.

Then today at rush hour (17:15) on the motorway at just 675 Km my turbo hose blew off. LR assistence still didn't know my car. I gave her my VIN No. as I coudn't go anyware.

Assistence guy told me that the hose was not a nice fit. He had to push to keep it in place during retightning the clip.

Hose is not nicely sitting over the flange. He adviced to go back to the dealer tomorrow.

Should have read this forum better!

Cheers

Looking at the pictures the hose isn't the right shape. It looks to have to be pushed on at a slight angle which wouldn't help Rolling Eyes

Last week took our usual hols up to the Lakes from Norfolk. Very Happy First decent trip in the new DCPU 2.2, all going spankingly well until half way up the M6. Big bang, followed by enthusiastic whooshing, to cut a long story short the hose that comes from the turbo, offside under the larger air intake pipe had blown off.

Land Rover Assistance chap assured me that it had never been put on correctly in the first place, and promptly refitted it. One hundred miles further, same result Shocked Managed to limp into Eskdale to our cottage. Again LR Assistance came out and announced that the fitter on the M6 hadn't tightened the jubilee clip correctly Evil or Very Mad

It also seems that on the inside edge of the jubilee clip there are two nodules which are meant to help grip the pipe. According to LR these are a menace because the have the effect of cutting into the pipe and causing it to split! Which has happened to mine.

So a quick call to Coniston LR to order a new pipe, Ah 'No Sir, very sorry, this is a known issue and no pipes available in UK at the moment due to a high demand'. Great....... so the rest of the week, I am driving around waiting for it to come off again, it did move and does need to be re-tightened periodically. As LR says, the pipe is under huge pressure when under load, and probably needs 2 x clips instead of one. Part now on order back in Norfolk, no due date as yet Big Cry

The reason for the post is that it might be prudent to check on your pipes, so to speak, before you are stranded. No pipe, zero power, zero movement.
