well men, my man at needamerc who restore G wagens went to the dark side fitting the BFs, fitting hella 3000s and in the process of doing leds.....side lights and remaining led tomorrows work sheet. I think it looks a bit of all right......fitted a terrafirma damper so hopefully all done 2m.....remaining work will be chequer plating (black or silver?), light protector at the rear and a concealed locomotive horn...that can is kicked up the road until funds are in hand again.....i know a bit childish at 46 yrs old re the loco horn but it'll be a bit of fun in non public areas....(cough)....you only pass through here once says me.

What do you have in mind for an air supply for the horn? I have a pair of horns off a BR mainline diesel loco in the shed and have always been tempted by the idea of fitting them. We have a lot of very elderly and discombobulated drivers in Dorset, and the evil demon in me wants to sneak up behind one when it is just driving onto one of Dorset's level crossings and let go with a two-tone blast of diesel horn to see what happens! ![]() Perhaps it would be best if I didn't try it. |

A friend of mine has a loco horn on his Series I. He runs it off a small air tank, which he fills with an air line. I think he gets about 4-5 seconds out of it, but it only needs to be used sparingly for the desired result anyway

Looks good Bearcat
![]() Whats the difference between 265 & 285? Can you put 285 on Dual Finish wheels suppose they are same size as Boosts? I'd like some one day, probably 265 as this seems to be a more common size but not sure why ![]() |

Er, 20mm ! Well, plus 20mm on width and plus 15mm on height.
Yes, as far as I know they are the same size. There are some people who will tell you that a Boost rim is too narrow for a 286 (and it is narrower than BFG recommends) but there are enough of us running them to suggest otherwise.
265s put less crap all over the side of the vehicle than 285s and the Boost rim is within the range recommended by BFG as suitable. 265s do not materially alter the turning circle, whereas 285s really need 30mm spacers or a +30mm offset wheel in order to maintain the turning circle. To some people the wider aspect of the 285 looks better than the 265, but to others vice versa (aesthetics are purely subjective). Performance-wise there is little to choose, the additional flotation of a 285 over a 265 is not sufficient to be significant. But 285s do look good! |

Be aware some tyre fitters will not fit a 285 on a 7J rim

Looks great, you were lucky with the tyres, you can't get them anymore.......confusing if they were such a good seller unless they are bringing in a new design
