The tiny paper filer is supposed to last 12k, I dropped it and couldn't find it as it rolled under a leaf. I've can't get the crush washer off, so I think that's why they specify a new bolt, it's stuck on.

did mine recently and it was the easiest oil change I've ever done on any vehicle. Yes the filter is tiny - about the same size as the one on my 1L 3 cylinder Peugeot !
One little tip that worked for me. Normally you remove the oil filler cap to enable the oil to drain out of the sump fully but on the Puma don't do this until you have started draining. By leaving it on it slows the initial gush of dirty oil just enough to get your hand (holding the sump plug!) out of the way. You can then remove it once you have positioned the drain container properly. |

The Manual says re the plastic oil filter housing:
That also seems awful tight for a plastic (I assume?) oil filter housing? My Volvo one is only 9Nm I think... Any thoughts> Has anyone used 35nm without distorting the filter housing???[/quote] Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

Yes I've now done it 5 times. no problem with the torque, the housing is reinforced and takes it easily

I don't bother using a torque wrench. I just tighten it very slowly and gently with a normal socket until I can feel it stop. No leaks no damage

My oil-drain plug washer has almost gone. I can not find it in spare parts catalogue/service manual. Do you know the type/size of it? Janusz
