As everyone must agree that it is in a ridiculous place...are there any ready made kits that allow relocating it into a more convenient location? If not, any DIY experiences then?

No reason why you couldn't..... knock the pin out (it's just on splines), get them dipped and knock the pin back in (with the plastic washer things)

As these are not the norm today, is there a problem in doing this?
In perfect world one would just have the hinges hot dipped and be done with it.
Why is this not done? Pin being the issue?

Two ways to do this.
1) Fitting gears of D2 box to my existing box
2) Switch to a 300tdi disco box

OK. I tested flooring the clutch at higher speed. Nothing,
These shakes only appear when the car is slowing down (might begin at 30kph or so) and are strongest just before it comes to complete halt.
