Agreed. Might be worth trying to re-route and extend the drain somehow.
After a long run in hot weather I can hear the water boiling off as it drips onto the gearbox.

Bergos, I think driving to the conditions is the best advice I can give. Of course driving at 130km/h in 40+ degree temperatures in a Defender is going to cause sky high fuel consumption and overheati ...

The cooling system will now be coated with oil on all surfaces unless it has been properly cleaned.
This could cause the overheating you are experiencing.

Does the engine provide normal power/oper ...

You might want to try reducing the glycol concentration in your coolant from 50% down to 40% or 30%. This will increase the heat transfer capacity of your cooling system.
It will still give you anti ...

Ive found that the PEL500110 helps up to a certain point, that is while the rest of the cooling system has the capacity to shed the heat load.

Its a sliding formula and I found the limit at around ...

Its a normal thing for a diesel, because of the high compression ratio. However, modern diesels have a throttle valve at the entrance to the intake manifold and has a couple of purposes. Firstly its u ...

Towing a load at 140km/h, you'd be lucky to make it to the end of that private road on a tank of fuel!

Catalytic converters are really only to do with population health in built up areas anyway, nothing to do with climate change, just like DPF's and EGR.
Not too relevant in most parts for us Pannawo ...

Another benefit I can see from a decat is freeing up some realestate in the engine bay. Defenders, especially puma's, seem to suffer from an engine bay airflow restriction at highway speeds.

These ...

Pannawonica, is your fuel efficiency improvement a result of all the mods combined?
Mine is remapped with EGR disabled and big intercooler so far.
