Thanks guys! Feel very fortunate to have them both.
A small update for my own records. Not exciting but satisfying for me. As I needed to top up the oil I drained the lot and gave it a service, and got the new brake vacuum pump on. Good to take it around the block again after a month of it being stuck away in the garage. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

As it’s my hols and I got bored I showered it with a bit of love this week. Gearbox and transfer box oil change, and the rear diff too (front done recently - then got distracted). Oil in the gearbox was so thin, glad it’s changed. All millers oils used.
Indicators and side lights were intermittently playing up so decided just to change the lot for new units and new connections. I’m surprised they worked at all… the old units were very brittle and crumbled instantly and one of the connections was totally corroded. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The surrounds also broke when removing them as they’d been bonded it seems so got some shiny new gloss surrounds, and put the reg plate in the correct position not behind the bumper. Looks so much better without though! Click image to enlarge Finally, bled the brakes. Initial attempts with an “Eazibleed” kit and 15psi from the tyre blew the top off the reservoir making a bit of a mess. Much swearing and cleaning later means I now have an incredibly clean engine bay. It was still leaking down to 8psi so I gave up on the kit and employed the wife to do it the old fashioned way. The learning curve continues. |

Fantastic weekend down near Dolgellau with a few mates.
Stayed at “Cefn Coed” (“Back of the woods”) campsite, which was huge, but we had a lovely quiet corner with some trees for the hammock (requested). Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Landy performed admirably, ferrying me and friends around for a few hundred miles over the long weekend, up the hills near Cadair Idris and around the headland a few times, before making the journey back to Liverpool. Easily kept up with modern traffic which always seems to surprise people. . Sadly didn’t get to have a go at the Arthog-Towyn greenlane as I didn’t have a 4x4 partner to play with, but the lanes from Arthog to Cregannon lakes had some incredible scenery. Click image to enlarge When I reached the top a collection of stunning Series Ones appeared, probably a dozen in total between when I arrived and when we left. They were meeting in Talyllyn the next day. I did go along for a look but got so distracted by them all I forgot to take a photo! Another weekend gallivanting around North Wales, camping with friends. Seen here looking over Llyn Gwynant and heading towards Capel Curig. Very pretty, but far too busy - I think the entirety of Liverpool and Manchester was here too. Went up to a lesser known lead mine for some peace and quiet.

Trip to Yorkshire followed by some little jobs done this weekend. Can confirm the boot of a Skoda Octavia estate will fit in the back of a 90. Helped fit that to a friend’s car then we started tinkering on the Landy.
Realigned my drivers door which resulted in taking the door cards off, and spotted that the interior lock wasn’t fitted quite right, which led me to fixing the passenger door lock that’s never worked in my ownership. Simple but satisfying. Also painted up the doorframes with hydrate 80 whilst in there. Drivers door is alright, and hasn’t got any worse since I’ve owned it so the stuff does work. First time looking in the passenger door and it was remarkably good condition for being original so that was a little win. Looked under the car for something to hydrate 80 and there was nothing, so the treatment last year followed by lanoguard has done the trick. Finally, I got bored of the aerial hole in the wing so fitted the new aerial I’d bought last year. Found a handy grommet in the drivers footwell and ran it through there - just need to buy a radio and speakers now. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Good news with the doors being in a good condition and jobs that you can finish the same day you start them are very satisfying 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up.

Slightly late as I spent some time sorting the intermittent rear indicators, and it passed its MOT.
Zero advisories! Very happy with that. |
