I have finally made my Land Rover roof rack useable. Aesthetically I think it’s one of the better ones but useless at carrying things. I used a sheet of phenolic ply cut down to 6x4 from 8x4 and then bolted it down using a mixture of rubber covered stainless steel clamps, mixing normal pipe clamps and p type clamps. I used some sticky back rubber between the rack and the board to try reduce the amount of noise and potential tapping.
Adds a bit of wind noise but not loads, hoping insulating the roof may take some of that away though. Rack could do with a bit of tlc but that’ll be a for a later date! Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

Replaced the steering intermediate shaft I think its called. Between the steering box and the steering wheel
I think this might account for some steering slop https://youtube.com/shorts/B2WjEuVeXZA?feature=share 1999 Defender TD5 110 Regards John M0VAZ Econet Station 48 no clock |

Fancied a dirty weekend, so decided to change the oil in both axles, transfer box and main gearbox - as well as greasing propshafts and ball joints.
Very dirty and very satisfying 👍 |

Yesterday put my hoodie on (which had been on the back seat for a couple of days) whilst collecting one of the kids, and discovered it had become snagged on something and now had several holes in it.
This evening driving over to Scouts with the favourite daughter who suddenly screams that she's spotted a mouse. Ensue a quick change to the planned programme whilst we strip out the interior trying to find wee Jeremy. Seems he'd made himself quite cosy under the cubby box but mission accomplished. I'm hoping he'd simply been transfered there from stuff moved from the shed a day or two before hand, and he's by himself, and he hasn't found any cables to nibble on 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone 2002 - Black Discovery II - Gone 2014 - Montalcino Red 110 XS SW |

Not quite today 😉 but the day before yesterday my Defender DC passed it's MOT after a 3 year+ rebuild / refurb.
I'm chuffed to bits ☺️ Just got to wait for some dry weather so I can pump some rust prevention in the chassis 👍🏻 |

I've just finished stripping the headlining out in order to find where the water was getting in and to recover it and make it look a bit less Bedouin tent.
