I've never seen door striker reinforcement before. Why are these needed?

Nice! And like Steveww I'm curious about the door striker plates? Do they stop you from ripping jeans/expensive barbour coat back pockets etc as you exit and enter? (how many times have I done that....) 90 - Gone but not forgotten

The B pillars are prone to splitting/cracking (you can just about see a hairline crack in the picture) from the repeated impact of the latch hitting the striker. These spread the load to a larger surface area and help prevent it happening (or in my case, getting worse) They're £25 each, but worth it, in my opinion, if it prevents a common issue. |

Just off of ebay, simple search for "Defender Striker" and these came up.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295303390553 Only caveat is that they arent as thick as the OEM Plastic plinth, so you'll need shims. |

Mini Update.
After many weeks of resistance, I have finally managed to replace the cross member bolts. You will know all about these from my post in the Puma forum. I have also since my last post removed the "extended" tow bar, and will eventually replace with either the standard tow bar or a NAS Step. Nice bit of kit that. I have always hated the OEM plinth. How are these for adjustment? or are they fixed in one position?! The photos on the listing are terrible for clarity. |

They are fixed in one place, due to the highest and lowest fixing point needing you to drill holes. I got around this by drilling a hole slightly larger that is needed (I think the bolts are M6 and I drilled M8 ) and then that at least allows a degree of adjustment - just not as much as the shims/OEM "slots" in the B Pillar. I'd also advise getting shims if you get these as they seem thinner (only marginally) than the OEM striker plate plinth. |

Last night, with nothing on TV and nothing better to do I made a start on tidying up the sealant on the wheel arches. When it was applied it was just wiped on for ease and to ensure it adhered.
Now with the help of a number plate removal “scraper” for sticky pad number plates and a bottle of Acetone, we are on the journey to just the holes being filled. See above for before… After: Click image to enlarge |

Thanks @BaronDefenders. UPDATE: As an extension to my post of 24th, I last night spent a further 4.5 hours with a litre of Acetone in the back of my 110, finishing up what I started, this also included the contact adhesive from the old carpet this time too. Below is the before and after. I've also (although I have no pic) replaced the rubber washers with Nylon thanks to @LandRoverAnorak's suggestion. BEFORE AFTER Click image to enlarge |
