Raised air intake
Hi!

Here in Brazil, we don't have lot of options for raised air intake, all are poor quality, the original is good one, but very very expensive for us here, what is your opinion for the original one?

(And, with this new electronic motor, how stay the water crosses?, isn't dangerous burn out the ECU crossing a river, or LR think about that and isolate it? or there is some tricks to isolate it from water?)

Hi Gabriel, the RAI are expensive over this way too. I imported a Mantec from the UK and it worked out about 50% of the price that they wanted locally for one. Depending on how this works for Brazil but it may be a better option. Its easy enough to install and there is a really great picture gallery of an installation by AndrewS: Mantec) 110 2.4TDCi

Gabriel - don't apologise for your English - it is very good.

I agree with dm_td5: the Mantec RAI is a good bet and shouldn't be too expensive to get shipped (they're not that heavy).

The ECU-driven Defenders are pretty good at wading. There is a known issue with the new PUMA engined Tdci, whereby the fuel tank breather needs to be repositioned (a DIY job - do a search on this forum) but other than that they are pretty robust.

The electrics are pretty well isolated unless you're planning on going VERY deep (in which case you'll be in danger of swamping the battery box under your seat). However, fording rivers should be OK. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS

Welcome to here (don't worry about the english, some of us also have problems with it).
As Alantd and dm_Td5, I also imported a Mantec RAI at a reasonable cost (US$ 620 installed) and works pretty well.

About the Mantec RAI's

Anyone know if the (1-DPSV-R/04) model or the (1-DSV5) fit for puma 2.4????

Because the (1-DPFL-R) model, (which is the only one that fit the puma 2.4 according tho the site!)
I think is a lot "futuristic"and don't match with the defender porpouse!

PS: I am a little "old fashioned"!!!!

I do not know the codes, but you can fit the typical one for Td5 or 300Tdi. Puma 110" SW

I believe the 1-DPSV-R/04 fits the Puma. In fact, if you have a roll cage, you need to get that model because the "plastic jobby" doesn't fit. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS
