What are the predrilled holes in the chassis for?
Decided to have a look under the truck today (MY 2012 90) in case there were some rust issues that needed addressing and was surprised to see a number of predrilled holes in the chassis rail. This is probably a stupid question but what are they for? Are there potentially bits of kit that would be attached by the use these holes? Seems to me they are just a potential source of future grief.

The large ones are alignment holes when fitting the bulkhead. But unsure if both on each side are used, but presumably yes, as 2 holes on one side give both location and rotation. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

PS, you have a bigger hole just behind the bulkhead outrigger.
I think holes are good to have as aid in drying any water that gets in. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Rivnuts for side steps or various other accessories that may or may not be fitted along the line. Some of them are for transmission mounts which were bolted onto the chassis on earlier vehicles.

Thank you. A useful bit more knowledge though still a long way to go before I fully understand it all.

They are there to let the air inside the chassis to make it lighter for lifting when it needs replacing... Whistle 1982 88" 2.25 diesel
