United Kingdom 1999 Defender 110 300 Tdi HT Keswick Green
Side lockers
My f/o/s side locker (in front of rear wheel)is made of steel and has been on the 110 for 4/5 years.

The hinge has seized up and the 7 rivets holding the door on have corroded through, probably due to road salt - and has fallen off!

The rivet heads are behind the hinge which has a wire going up through it but the wire has some weld either end so it cannot be withdrawn to get the rivets in.

When newly fitted, not by me, some how these rivets were fitted as they go through the door hinge and in to the vehicle side panel.

Has anyone had this problem?
The lockers are no longer available in this size, the SS ones are smaller.

Any bright ideas welcome - here are a few shots.

Odd that it looks as though the roll of the hinges would still be in the way if you could remove the hinge pin.

I'd be inclined to drill new holes further away from the roll of the hinge.

Good thought but there is not enough meat left to do that, and I don't think the rivet gun would still fit...

If the rivet will fit you can use a tubular spacer the diameter of the rivet head between rivet and mandrel when setting the rivet.
