Transfer box selector gone sloppy
Took my 2008 Puma out today and out in a green lane went to select low ratio and the selector is just sloppy. Doesn't feel like its connected to anything? Looked around some previous posts and didn't see anything like it mentioned. Any thoughts? Just a broken pin? Not tried to investigate yet but tomorrow will start by accessing from the top.

There are value-engineered plastic connectors in the linkage and it is possible that one has come unclipped. There are also bits which can break. If you have a look from underneath ideally with someone else waggling the lever you can probably see what's gone wrong. From your description it is unlikely to be inside the transfer box.

Someone else on this forum is also looking for that link. Seems to be a common failure (mine was replaced by previous owner).

I've just seen the price of the replacement part from LR (and it's not available aftermarket as far as I can tell), around £220 for a piece of plastic tat! Shocked

Thanks blackwolf and dinnu…took a look underneath and it was the control rod thing. The plastic connector had popped off and was hanging down. A bit tight to reach but popped back on (photo)…yet to road rest but hopefully ok
