Hello Ben01
I've been through the 'Auto Question' in the early part of this year... https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82722.html My wife wanted to swap her Automatic Land Rover (Freelander) for a Defender... but liked (had got use to) the Automatic 'life style' my research seemed to end up at two main routes, Ashcroft and JE Engineering... Ashcroft offering the LR Range Rover / Disco 1-2 > 4 Speed Automatic Conversion and JE Engineering offering the Ford Electronic 6 Speed Automatic Conversion. My advice would be to approach both companies and test drive a demonstration vehicle. We did take out an Ashcroft Auto Converted 110 for sale (2010 110K Mileage £29K / March 2022) and it actually drove well, so I would not rule out this 'old technology'. I don't have the JE comparison experience and from what I've read I think there would be a significant difference. We decided to not try and find a good Automatic Defender for sale but get a good standard vehicle and then convert as / if required... we ended up with a 2011 110 with 23K Mileage and so far (3K later) the manual gearbox hasn't put my wife off.... so I'm holding my breath https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html Good Luck... I’ve got the LOF clutch spring and master cylinder fitted to mine and the clutch is light as a feather. From memory it cost less that £100 for both. Might be worth a try?
