B Pillar advice.
Hi Landy Experts,

I recently had the hinges changed on my Puma. Is this right (see images) surely the bolt for the hinges shouldn't be poking into the vehicle like this. I know the Landrover isn't exactly safe but this looks awful.

I can cut the bolt down for my own satisfaction but does the trim really stop there?

Is there an aftermarket solution that makes it look better/safer? And what are the two bolt holes above and below? it looks like there should be a plate covering it?

Any ideas/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Chris

The bolt doesn't look right - it shouldn't project like that - but yes, the trim does stop there. Darren

The bolt is far too long, it should not extend out of the pillar. The trim does stop there and there is a hole with the bolt-ends visible, I found the a huge draft came out of mine so I covered them (neatly) with black duct tape to stop the gale.

If you’ve bought a hinge kit. That bolt should be for the lower hinge.

You should match up the new bolts with the old ones. You’ll see the difference then between top and bottom hinge. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Hi,

Bloody hell, yes that makes sense.

I will take them out one at a time and check.

They are supposed to be a Landy expert as well!

CSI does some plugs to cover these holes in the B pillar

I don't have them though, so cannot comment further.

Damn, I'd forgotten about them, which is made worse by the fact that I bought a set a few years ago and haven't fitted them Rolling Eyes Darren

Just above and below the hole are two M10 fixings.

I wonder what LR had them installed for? I am thinking of getting a plate made and using some plastic bolts?

I think they must have thought of covering the hole and never got around to it?
