So £490 might be good
But how can it have a service without oil! for £70 less? Mike |

No idea, but I had something come up about an ‘inspection service’ once on the website, maybe it’s that?
I change the engine oil and filter myself halfway between the official LR services anyway. |

Im used to running cars and JLRs with 2yr services - if there is only one thing you do, change the oil and filter!
i just dont know why you would pay £400 for a service that doesnt actually change anything thats a service item ? hey ho! Mike |

Labour rates at the LR dealers are about £125 per hour
Is it okay to use a reputable independent Land Rover Specialist? My local one charges around £50 per hour. l believe it's allowed under the warranty conditions. |

You can use anyone so long as they use LR parts and follow their specification. The hassle will be proving this if there’s ever an issue.
Personally I’ll pay the few hundred quid extra while it’s in warranty to avoid that argument, and then will do it all myself afterwards. |

Uploading it onto the service record is actually really easy.
I was amazed with the Evoque we had Halfords autocentre did it automatically for us! Mike |

I had my truck main dealer serviced the first year, x hundred quid; second year, x hundred quid, third year, x hundred quid. The fourth year, the quote (and the final invoice) a LOT less. It was explained to me by the service manager that almost everybody goes elsewhere once the vehicle is out of warranty, so they REDUCE their service costs to be competitive. Go figure! Peter |

How easy is it to change the oil and filter on the Defender D250? l may do an interim oil change between the extended service intervals.

It’s pretty easy, the filter is on the top and so if you use a vacuum extractor you don’t have to go scrabbling underneath to remove the skid plates etc.
