New clutch. New rattle
Just had the clutch and front brakes changed as a £1.2k precaution and I now have this rather noisy rattle at idle.

https://youtu.be/2s0h8EGhwPY

It disappears when the pedal is depressed and when revved to 2k+ any ideas?

Forgot to say the output shaft was replaced and greased at the same time. All clunking has vanished.

Did you change the dual mass flywheel?

I don't think any of the Puma Defenders have a Dual Mass flywheel?

How many miles has it done since you changed the clutch?

Which clutch was fitted? I understand a lot of the uprated clutches tend to rattle at idle. There's quite a few threads on here about it.

Yep, mine’s a slightly tweaked 300Tdi, so I went for the LOF powerspec (I think) - uprated anyway.

When the gearbox is cold - no noise; when it warms up and the oil thins, it chatters away.

I got in touch with Luke at LOF and Dave Ashcroft (who’d supplied a rebuilt gearbox) and am told it’s just one of those things, but that it will do no harm. Just the gears chattering together, but not wearing.

I’ve pondered a sound deadening blanket but not got too bothered yet. As in the OP it’s only when idling that it’s an issue. Donald

It was just a case of it bedding in. All rattles have gone thankfully.
