Thank you for the update. Looks like they will just try to wear you down.
Just a thought. I know Land Rover used to carry the royal "by appointment to" as suppliers of vehicles. Perhaps you could tell Land Rover that you intend to write to what ever member of the royal family lets Land Rover use the "by royal appointment" warrant and tell them how Land Rover are approaching this. The royal family will not get involved but it won't look too good for Land Rover. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

I totally agree, blackwolf.
I'm currently posting a summary of Payney's story to two German forums. |

Another avenue to consider is contacting the media and consumer affairs type programmes, although this afternoon's sad news will understandably and correctly keep the media occupied on other matters for some time.

2016 is still mig welded, but should be with improved weld.
It is up to around early 2013 mig welded axles which had the problem. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Crikey. Only just caught up with this. Absolutely shocking state of affairs. Thank you Payney for all your efforts, just sorry for the accident that led to it in the first place. Unfortunately, in a post Brexit world, LR is even less liable than it was before, when the EU as a whole could get involved. Now, with the UK breaking down faster than a LHS mig-welded axle, they can likely keep pushing back with relative impunity. It will be an uphill battle.
Leading on from a comment by Payney, with regard to how many Puma drivers are rolling around oblivious to the defect and recall (let’s be honest, most Puma owners won’t be the obsessive forum members we are), I’d suggest far far more don’t know than do. And therefore how many owners have had this addressed if they were missed by the recall, none? So here’s a thought. We’re a forum of like minded owners, with the vast majority of us being Puma owners, and there are numerous other forums out there with similar passionate owners. So given we’re all in one place, perhaps a class action against LR should be considered? And this is whether or not we have a 110 or 90, mig weld or not. Any Puma owner. Really these axles should have been replaced across the board. Like Merc mentioned in a previous post. It might cost them hundreds of thousands of pounds, but that would be a lot less than litigation after a death which could amount to millions. So would this be worth doing? Getting all Puma owners on the two or three big forums to sign up? And perhaps get a consumer rights journalist involved. Quentin Wilson? Martin Lewis? That chap on the BBC. If they’re trying to buy Payney’s silence, they’re clearly sh*ting their pants, so imagine what might happen if hundreds, or even thousands of owners approached them and it was widely covered by the UK press, and then those of LR’s key markets such as EU, SA, Oz etc? Could be a game changer. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

It might be more effective however if the originator had been bright enough to know that "up most" should have been "utmost".

Blackwolf your correct just noticed lol 😂 well least they are given it ago. But I think it’s directed at another landrover problems currently like engines blowing up etc.
I emailed the person to get more info on what they know. Join two actions together could increase the effect. |
